These hacks don't seem to have improved my battery life at all. Took my phone off the charger less than 2 hrs ago, no phone calls, very light use (changing some settings within AE Plus, etc.), no emails, no internet use, and I'm already down to 80%.

A couple points that might help:

1) Did you reset your device after making the reg hacks? If not do so.

2) If you did, did you give the phone 5 minutes before resetting? It needs that time to apply the changes in the reg. After reseting your device go into the Reg to confirm the changes stuck.

3) There could any number of other reasons for battery drain such as screen on 100% brightness, no timeout for the screen when on battery, IR always scanning for another beam to connect to (this is a battery killer), wifi on and you don't know it, etc...

4) If you live in a bordline reception area, the phone will be continually trying to get a connection or a better one resulting in a very short battery life.

Hobbes:

Thanks for helping. I noticed that you answered my post on another forum as well so I figured I might as well post my answers here as well.

1) Did you reset your device after making the reg hacks? If not do so.

I did.

2) If you did, did you give the phone 5 minutes before resetting? It needs that time to apply the changes in the reg. After reseting your device go into the Reg to confirm the changes stuck.

I did and I have confirmed that the reg changes stuck.

3) There could any number of other reasons for battery drain such as screen on 100% brightness, no timeout for the screen when on battery, IR always scanning for another beam to connect to (this is a battery killer), wifi on and you don't know it, etc...

Screen is at about 75-80% brightness (don't know how to get an exact #), backlight timeout set to 30 sec on battery, IR off, wifi off.

4) If you live in a bordline reception area, the phone will be continually trying to get a connection or a better one resulting in a very short battery life.

Reception is extremely good where I am (5 bars at all times).

That could be why. I keep my backlight 1 click over from the left (10% or 20%).

That's really low - you can barely see the screen at that level. I guess I could try it at 50% or so but I think the problem is somewhere else. My screen is off most of the time anyway and my battery is still draining.

If it's not the screen and you are in good service area, next would be wifi (battery killer) Bluetooth or the applications you have installed and running. If you use push email or IM, you will have very short batt life. What apps do you have installed?

If you hard reset to stock, use the phone for a day and see what kind of batt you get. Then apply these hacks and go for another day and see what happens. Then install ONE app per day until you find the offending app. At the end of a week, you will be MUCH happier.

only thing you can do is buy another battery, cause these hacks don't help much at all.

It looks like each click is 10%. I have my backlight set at 30% and it's plenty bright indoors.

I was charging my 6800 every other day before the battery hacks. Now I only have to charge every 4 to 5 days.

Thanks for the mods guys!

After making the battery tweaks, my phone's battery life has improved greatly - which had previously been a source of irritation.

Very noticeable improvement
