Re: HTC PPC-6800 Alltel WM6 update
MS Voice Command (MSVC_1.6_WM....) absolutely won't work for me . About half the time (I'm stubborn, tried it at LEAST 8 times) it won't go, the rest of the time it loads but within moments it'll munch the SETTINGS menu item....Freezes up, soft reboot gets me to the rest of the phone, but settings are gone tin Hard Reset (and all the crap involved in relaoding.
I flashed PPCKitchen ROM w/ their MSVC...it works fine, but it lacks some of the prefs of this older one. I'll have to suck it up & go back to it. Took me DAYS to figure out which app was munchin the SETTINGS window....good to know, sad to lose teh old MSVC. |

Re: HTC PPC-6800 Alltel WM6 update
Here is what I am dealing with:
I have a 6800 programmed for Verizon, I want to switch it to Alltel. I called Alltel and they told me that not until the end of the year will Alltel and Verizon phones be compatible. So I'm looking for the proper steps to take to program my 6800 to Alltel. I found the following info in only one place and not sure if I will end up bricking my phone or not. I'm posting the info for any opinions and comments. The following is backwards to what I'm doing, but I thought if I just followed the steps I could properly switch my cell from Verizon to Alltel. Here it is: - First you will need to make SURE your phones ESN is in the Verizon database. - Next, you will need to find out from a Verizon Agent what your MDN (Mobile Device Number) and MIN (Mobile Information Number) are on you Verizon account. - Next you will need to find out what you SID (System Identification) is for your area in the Verizon Network. (You should be able to find out all these things at your local Verizon store.) - Now take you Motorola RaZR and while it is on the home screen, type the following "7,4,6,6,3,#,CLEAR,CLEAR" (it spells out PHONE,#,CLEAR,CLEAR) - Once you do that you should be prompted to select NAM1 or NAM2. Select "NAM1" - Now you will be manually programming you phone to work on the Verizon Network. - Fill in the MDN, MIN, and SID blanks under the NAM1 configuration. (these blanks will probably still have the last number the phone was used on still programed in it, just clear those out, and replace it with the Verizon Information) . - Once you have finished reprogramming the MDN, MIN, and SID, go back to the NAM menu, and click the END key. The phone will now restart and be programed under the Verizon Network. - If you have any problems with the phone, you can always try flashing the BIOS. -Oh, One more thing, If you manage to program this phone on the Verizon network, you will not be able to Use the Alltel Access Apps and The Mobile Web. You will also not be able to update your PRL'S on you Alltel Phone, which means if Verizon gets new towers in your area, you will not be able to update to them. If you ever use this phone on a Verizon post-pay account, this will definately screw up your roaming areas - Also, once you do this, DO NOT TRY TO ACTIVATE USING *228 because it will automatically through it back onto the Alltel Network. I have 3 other phone right now that are up and running on theAlltel network. I could get the MDN, MIN, and SID for Alltel from one of the other phones I'm using. Okay am I totally wrong or do I have the right idea, if I have the right idea do I still have to flash the ROM? Thanks, |

Re: HTC PPC-6800 Alltel WM6 update
DO this. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=21161
Then unlock and install current wm6.1 alltel rom. You should be pretty close to good then.

Re: HTC PPC-6800 Alltel WM6 update
Yes you will have to redo all the settings. There isnt really a way around the flashing and erasing settings. Since you will need to have the pri updated with the alltel rom.
