So apparently they replaced the MDN string with the hmac string... Interesting... I wonder...

I would love to go through a 6800 for a little while and copy the program files off of it for the Arcsoft program...

I've looked under Program Files, and there's no Arcsoft directory...

If you can give me a few filenames that the Arcsoft program uses, I can search through the Windows directory... maybe they've tied it into there...

EDIT: I've found some files that do mention Arcsoft under the \Windows folder...

MMS Composer.htm
MMSCtxMenuPlugin.dll
MMSForm.dll
MMSTemplates0409.inf
mmstool.dll
MMSTransport.dll

I have some of those same files on mine. I wonder if you were to zip them up, and let me d/l them, if I could replace them, and the do a soft reset, and be able to start back up with the new version??

lennysh 09-14-2007 12:03 PM

There is also a file on mine in the windows folder called ArcMMS.dll... So if you do a zip, then please include this one...

lennysh 09-14-2007 12:06 PM

Also, in the registry, HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\ there are four thing's in there that I would like to see the settings for. On mine, there's FLIX, MMS, MMS1, and PIX. Anything under the IPM that has anything to do with the dll files you posted or the ArcMMS.dll I would like to see. So I can make sure all that is identical on mine if I do decide to import your files into my 6700..

lennysh 09-14-2007 12:09 PM

Also, do you have a folder called AppMgr under Windows? I have an ArcSoft folder in that folder... Might not be anything but like a temp directory, but I don't want to miss anything... There is a file in there called 800A.tmp... that is the uninstall settings... So we would need this to do a cab later on...

EDIT: Also, under HKLM\Software\OEM\3rdVersion\mHub What do you have for the value of that string? Mine is Generic_6_0_2_x_8_CDMA_noMMS So I wonder if that noMMS has a purpose? Or if it's just a description...

EDIT 2: under OEM\MASD there is a string called MMS... What do you have as the value for that?

hecatomb 09-14-2007 12:28 PM

haha, holy cow... I'm at lunch at the moment, but I'll provide that info when I get back to my desk.

I do know there isn't an Arcsoft directory under AppMgr.

lol... sorry for all the needed information, but I'm just ready to solve this problem. Just wish I had a 6800 to play with for a day. By the time I got through with it, my 6700 would have everything the 6800 does in relation to MMS...

Trust me, if we get this to work, we may go down in the History books... I may have to give him my email to keep from blowing up the forums... But then again, everything I post may help somebody out..... hopefully.. It would be nice if me and him happen to be the one's to crack this nerver ending story...

ok lennysh, check your PM's... I sent you the registry dumps, and what wasn't in my reg that you asked about... I'm attaching 8 files referencing MMS stuff from the root of the \Windows folder.

One question, are you running WM5 on your 6700? Maybe if you flashed to helmi_c's WM6 you'd have more success?

Is there a RcDll.dll file anywhere? I see it referenced in the registry settings you sent me. So I guess I'll need that file too if you don't mind...

lennysh 09-14-2007 06:35 PM

OMG!!! I actually recieved a picture file, and it was a normal size picture in color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lennysh 09-14-2007 07:08 PM

I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages.... I can receive picture messages....

And I don't mean those little thumbnails that are black and white that everybody else has been receiving either.. I mean a full blown 42k picture from an Audiovox 8910 on Alltel

GREGHARKINS 09-14-2007 07:09 PM

Great mines working to, but now when i get a pic message adn look at it and then go back to the today screen and click on my messaging link i cant get there i have to soft reset to be able to get back to my messaging functions.

I can click on anything else and it all works fine but the messaging freezes up.

Anyone else?

lennysh 09-14-2007 07:28 PM

Weird thing is though, it will send a picture, and it will say message sent but my wife's phone does not get it. I can send a picture to my self, and I receive it shortly after it is sent...

Something is missing, or either it's Alltel's network that is still having problems now....

1. Get Alltel to add Picture Messaging to your account if it's not already. I had to tell them that I had somebody from Alltel put the software on my phone to do MMS, and all I had left to do was to add the servive to my account. I have the smart choice plan, so it did not cost any extra a month, plus it's unlimited.

2. Install MMS Composer 3.0.6.24 to your device if it's not already on there. I flashed my device to WM6 using Helmi_C's ROM. He already had it on this ROM, but at the time I got this working I had already re-installed it like 3 times while trying to import the ArcSoft off of the 6800... I have the file, but it's easy to find. It's the Verizon version, but I don't know if that matters or not. If I get at least one person to get this working, I'll make a zip file with all of the stuff you need.

3. After you install that, get somebody to send you a picture message. It should now go into the MMS inbox instead of you getting that text message.

When you have done 1 - 3, post your results... I've made so many changes to my phone, it may take a couple of post's to see which change's I made actually made a difference or not. I know the server is a big part of it, but I had #3 happen using the verizon settings, so you should be able to get that far without making any server changes from the default.

Post your results...

avatar120 09-15-2007 03:05 PM

what changes did you do other than add pic messaging to your account

to0 09-15-2007 04:18 PM

Is there any word on the extraction of the composer that comes with the Alltel 6800? I have a Sprint Mogul on Cricket with WAP and outbound MMS working (and I did a soft reset and took other measures to ensure that nothing related to Sprint loaded). When I receive an MMS message, my phone lights up like it's going to do something, and then nothing happens. No notifications or anything. I think the problem is a conflict between ArcSoft 3.0.6.24 and the way the Mogul handles incoming MMS.

Any other suggestions on this are welcomed.

Thank you.
