Talking on phone using car charger

A Sprint tech told me that I should not talk on my phone while using a car charger. He said this can damage the phone over time. Anyone ever hear this and is it true? Thanks.

My guess would be (other than Sprint's liability with certain states laws about driving and cell phones) that the MINI USB connection where you would plug in the charger would wear over time and might eventually come loose. Had it happen to me on a phone that used the universal plug ... and the associates at the Sprint Store said they had seen that a lot for different kinds of phones. I am not sure what kind of loads this MINI USB connection can take.

I would say there is NO truth to this..

The idea seems silly to me, but I have noticed sometimes when I'm driving, have my 700wx plugged into the car charger and talking on my BTHS, the battery gets really hot and the phone will eventually notify that the charging circuit has turned off due to the high temp of the battery. I dont understand why this only happens sometimes. It the Mogul is susceptible to this that might have something to do with why Sprint told you that.

Why would sprint and HTC provide an adapter that allows you to plug your factory headset in and charge at the same time?

callowph 08-09-2007 02:59 PM

uhhh...use a headset.

But why have it be a dual adapter dongle though? If it was to just use the headset wouldn't it just be the single option and have it do directly from the usb port into the headset port instead of into a headset port and standard usb for sync/charging? Makes no sense why they would include it and then say it's bad for you to charge and talk at the same time?
