Re: Tethering Via Cable
Just open Internet Connection Sharing. It should be in your start menu. Plug in the cable, and press Connect on the phone.

Re: Tethering Via Cable
I've tried that before, it doesn't work. I think there's something else I need to do to enable it.

Re: Tethering Via Cable
ummm try edit ur registry?? hkey_local_machine..comm... internet sharing... something needs to be deleted I can remember exactly... hold on....
First, use a registry editor such as PHM Regedit to delete the value \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\ForceCellConnection Soft reset your device. |

Re: Tethering Via Cable
Ok, so here's the story. I'm not using the stock rom and I do have ICS installed. I connect the cable, click connect and everything seems to connect (blinking computers in taskbar). However, internet does not work, i.e. I cannot browse the web, email, AIM etc. ICS locks up when I try and disconnect and I cannot end ICS in the task manager, I must soft reset. I've tried this on multiple computers and it's the same. On Vista everything connects fine except for the little globe that appears over the blinking computers in the taskbar that confirms an active internet connection.
It seems like that is something on my phone blocking data from being sent when tethering via a cable. I can tether fine using bluetooth and WMwifirouter works fine as well. My question, Are those registry edits to enable tethering via a cable or do they do something else such as prevent verizon from knowing that I am tethering? Much thanks! EDIT: I've installed PDANet and that works. I'm wondering, is there something I need to enable to allow ICS to work via usb cable? Last edited by Gulanowski; 05-22-2009 at 05:13 PM. |

Re: Tethering Via Cable
I've been reading up on this for hours and I still can't figure it out. ICS opens, connects and everything goes fine except my connection is being shown as only local (i.e. I'm not receiving data from the internet). What gives?

Re: Tethering Via Cable
Any particular reason why you don't want to use WMWifirouter? You can tether with it as well as use wifi.
