Animated Startup Screens

In case ya didn't know, you can replace the animated startup screen for the sprint mogul by either:

1. Editing the registry setting at HLM\software\htc\startupanimation
Change the GIFFile string VALUE to the new .gif name and place the new gif in your \windows folder

or

2. Place a new animated gif by the name of SPCS_startup.gif in the \windows folder.

Anyone care to post their modified animated startup screen?

I'll post a few I found on some other sites to get it started..I haven't found anything I really like.. so I'm hoping to steal yours ; )

The smaller the .gif the better it will animate during boot. The original is about 24kb.

Thanks though, I haven't been able to find any splash screens so if anyone else has more links to "premade" ones please post! I'm far from artistic

This thread is better than the other one. The other one is just some guy showing a Transformer screen and some crappy Sprint screens.

Also, what sites are you looking at? Having trouble finding startup screen sites.

Here is one place where I got the most of mine. You can also use a GOOD photo editor such as photofiltre and reduce the size by almost half of some of these gifs.

Also try a google search for 240x320 animated gifs and you will get some hits.

The sound can be changed by replacing the file located in \windows which is called Startup_sounds.wav ,

you can also edit the registry located in the same area as the GIFFile but instead edit eh WAVFile String to point to the \location\name.wav

There is two other settings in the registry which I'm not certain what they do at this point.. one is

Dword UseStandardAudioAPI

the other is

Dword Volumn

And there is a dword by the name of Enabled which 0 is off and 1 is on regarding the animated startup screen.

I tried the Win spinning one. It only runs thru the animation once during startup. Is this a file issue (if so I can make the file enabling looping) or this a system then, i.e. reg edit or something.

i'm pretty sure it is the size. we need something with less color i think .. the windows flag on black would be kewl
