sorry, but the only way i think you could feel that the mogul plays slingbox video perfectly is if you never had it on a previous phone like the 6700 or you had the Q.

there are definitely flaws with the slingplayer on the mogul. i haven't found one person who had a 6700 and doesn't have issues with slingplayer on the mogul compared to the 6700

mine worked great on my mogul until thursday, now I cant get it to sync over sprints network. If I am on wifi no problem, but places I still get EVDO service, the slingplayer does not work. The quality on my Mogul is much better then it was on my Q.

DAMBRO24 07-29-2007 05:16 PM

MIGHT VERY well not be the software that is the problem

first and for most stop comparing the @ with the mogul and slingplayer different screen size and res.

Now here is a roblem people may hve and may want to return there moguls for....

the processor DOES NOT synce audio correctly. slingplayer is not the only video that i have this problem with. go to m.utube and use the new streaming player and you will see that exact same audio video sync issues. the video runs great for me on slingplayer and the m.youtube.com website but the audio is off and i cant stand it. also encorder video that all run on the 6700 does not run on the 6800 only answer this not intel. a cheaper POS processor. im pretty angry aboujt this right now

Can anyone confirm the above post? I've never heard of a processor being the reason video won't sync. Any other video I've seen on the Mogul plays fine.

Direct Draw!

Its because of Direct Draw.
It seems HTC (or somebody) wrote a very poor driver for Direct Draw with our hardware.

DD is supposed to be a more efficient way to access the screen hardware, using accelerated routines.
Apparently, the chips in the mogul are new and the DD support is very poor. TCPMP also has major issues if you use it with DirectDraw enabled.
Problem is that all the developers out there LOVE using DD because it usually is better. The mogul is an exception to that rule.

Either we need to get apps that DON'T use direct draw, or wait for a software update from HTC that fixes the faulty drivers. Let's hope for that one!

Ahh, DirectDraw... I had read about this on the Sling forums here: http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/...--HTC-/?page=1

This is a little upsetting as there's basically no way of us knowing when or if HTC (or anyone for that matter) will release better drivers for DD.

I guess it may be possible that a "custom" version of drivers for DD on our Moguls could surface, but it's tough to depend on that.

wow i forgot about that thread. im the one who started it. well i returned my slingbox b/c it just wasnt delivering the quality i wanted. especially because i paid 170 for the slingbox. I may pick up another one if the problems gets fixed. i think its up to microsoft to fix the direct draw drivers if that it the problem. the WMV drivers for wm6 are faulty too.

This is a reason all on its own to return the Mogul. I think mine will go back . i have a "new" device" with BS drivers. come on HTC clean it up . this problem , MUST!!!!!! be fixed. who do I call and what is the number anyone? im getting them to work this out!!!!!!

We've made some progress on the Sling community boards. It seems Sling is looking into the Mogul issues. :)

Thanks for all the good info, folks. I bought the 6700 a month ago and I've had to replace it (on Sprint's dime) twice due to defects. Only now the 6700 is out of stock and no longer carried, so I've been offered a 6800 as a replacement. One of my main concerns is Slingbox compatibility.

I'm scared after reading this thread that the 6800 is going to be a huge disappointment; I thought the 6700 was fantastic when it worked to spec. I was really hoping the 6800 would be an improvement in every way.

OK, finally some reason to be encouraged!
