Broken FFC Cable

I've owned my HTC Mogul for around 8 months now and it's been a great phone to me. A little while ago the directional pad at the bottom sopped working which made me a little nervous. I figured it was nothing, but then the landscape mode stopped working. It would just freeze when I changed. And soon the entire screen just stopped showing things other than the very rare occasion. Long story short, I read a lot about repair costs and what not (it's out of warranty) and decided to pop it open. I quickly discovered a slice in the main connecter cable (the one between the screen portion and the keyboard portion). That pretty much summed it up. I've been looking for a replacement part all over the internet but not to much success. I was hoping that you guys would have some input.

Re: Broken FFC Cable

You might try stopping by a repair center, they might have one and depending on who's there, might be willing to part with it. Otherwise look for one with a broken screen on craigslist that you can scavenge for parts.

Re: Broken FFC Cable

So I found a broken phone for $30, but it says it doesn't power on. It sounds like it might be water damage, but do you guys think that will effect the parts functionality? I'm pretty sure there is an IC on the top of the main cable.

Re: Broken FFC Cable

I had seen that and was completely going to get it because I can see the cable in the picture actually, but his feedback kind of put me off. 5 just isn't quite enough to put me at ease.
