Hate the locking system....
The locking system on the Mogul has really been annoying me. You only have a few options.
A: Activate the Today screen plugin and tap it each time before you power off the device. This is the most reliable but not only does it take up space on the Today screen, you have to press 2 buttons and tap the screen to unlock. 2 key presses are enough. B: Use an addon like Onlock to activate the stock locking program without needing the Today plugin. Problems with this are that the device seems to wake up slower then usual and the program isn't reliable. It seems too often for some unknown reason it just stops locking my phone on power down and I have to soft reset to get it working again. C: Use an addon that locks the phone in it's own way. Tried this route and it was far less reliable then Onlock but did have the benefit of only needing 2 keypresses to wake up. I'm not sure why HTC couldn't make a simple lock system which locked the phone on power down and preferably only required 2 keypresses to wake up. Example of why I'm so aggravated atm. Example, while using Onlock it had quit locking the phone at some point and I hadn't noticed. I received a text message while the phone was in my pocket and 30 or so seconds later when I pulled the phone out, my leg had tapped one of my photo speed dials and called someone. |
Sounds like you might want to try slidetounlock 1.17. Just do a search for it on the forums. Unfortunately at this time I have not been registered 4 days so you will have to search for yourself or have someone post a link for you.

I totally agree. Locking in WM phone is flawed. Is it that hard to implement locking feature like what Treo has? Simple, reliable, and easy to unlock..
That said, I agreed with shades228 that slide2unlock is one of the better solution. There are two downsides though. The first is it takes quite a bit of memory especially if you leave it on background. The second is Apple didn't like it and the file is not openly available any more (though it shouldn't be too hard to find on the net). |
You can search for Devicelock on XDA. It's a pretty solid option and I use it with no real hiccups.

Jamesus said it correctly. Devicelock is really a great app. I like slide2unlock's gui better but uninstalled it because it uses so much memory and also because it is buggy on my 6800.
Anyhow, devicelock allows me to: Assign a key to it, I press the key and the phone locks and goes to sleep in one motion. When I wake the phone up with the power key, I have the option of unlocking it the standard way, or using ONE key. The one key option is something that was added in version 1.2 at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ght=devicelock So, you press two buttons to unlock. The power button to wake up the device, and the unlock key, which is mapped to the key above the start key. Thanks to Matt Armstrong for such a great program. Enjoy. |
