Re: Internal GPS question
Please use the search feature. Questions like this have been discussed many times. No service is required on the phone. It will use standalone GPS.

Re: Internal GPS question
As PDAJ said, the device needs to service to do GPS. iGuidance 4 will work and there are some pretty big threads on it here.
However, when I was trying it some time back I never got it to work properly. It would install fine but wouldnt load. I posted a thread about it but never really got a lot of help so I just moved on. xv6800 and iGuidance 4.0

Re: Internal GPS question
If you don't have AGPS enabled it will just use regular GPS which is a pain to get a lock if you aren't outside or close to a window. But it will work.

Re: Internal GPS question
I can get a standalone lock in about 30-40 seconds if I hold the phone straight up. If I hold it normaly then it takes forever...

Re: Internal GPS question
I personally think that is a fluke. I have mine laying down all the time in the car and I have fast standalone locks under 1 minute.

Re: Internal GPS question
However I could agree that you holding the phone changes the antenna impedance and parameters maybe allowing for a better signal. So whatever it takes to get it working.
