Don't get your hopes up. They will probably only activate it with their navigation software/plan which I always forget the name...
Nav... Map... something.

This is what really bugs me about Sprint. Their cheepy regular phones like the Katana or RAZR V3M... have at the very least A-GPS enabled with Telenav or Garmin and can be used. And on EVDO it's not too bad. But if you have dropped $400 or $600 (I know, I'm talking full prices here) for a new PPC cell phone (Mogul, 6700, Q, or Treo...) with them, you can't even get Telenav with out spedning another $50 to $100 on a bluetooth GPS receiver. I don't get it. I spend more and get less? What's the deal Sprint? Just let us have our damn GPS. We paid for it.

I won't buy this phone unless the GPS rumor is true. I've tweaked my 6700 to the point now where I'm totally happy with it.

Yeah the E911 argument is pretty weak. And really stupid since it's a federal requirement.
Has anyone else heard a confirmed update will enable GPS? I'm not leaving my 6700 until there is actually an upgrade availble. The 6800 isn't enough of a step up with out it. PLus there is a Mini sd adapter GPS adapter coming out soon anyways I'm willing to bet that the 6700 will have a GPS with that adapter before the 6800 is patched. |
