Anyone call HTC in the past week?

I'll probably be calling this week as even though people may say they work with HTC and Sprint, both are big companies and I have seen major issues ignored because it gets left to rot on someone's desk while the person below them assumes it is being taken care of since they notified someone.

ksalper 07-11-2007 04:01 PM

I called today

I called today and posted to the sprint board, which I of course can't post the link for -- sorry, google for sprint baw forums if you need it.

I suggest everyone do this -- there was no wait for the phone to be picked up. 866-449-8358.

The guy I talked to said the problem is related to the "enhanced data rate" of the bluetooth headsets, and that older headsets designed for BT 1.2 instead of 2.0 might work better in the meantime, while they work on a fix. He wasn't able to tell me WHEN a fix was coming, but he did say one was being worked on.

I'm new at this, so I can't speak to how accurate or meaningful this is, but it seemed interesting to me.

Spydc 07-11-2007 04:09 PM

Ksalper,

Thanks for the info. I believe there are people with older BT 1.2 headsets with the same issue but at least it is good to know that they are working on it. But i hope they don't take forever.

daclothe 07-12-2007 12:16 AM

I've got a Moto HS820 and it sounds terrible on the other end.

hippity.hoppity 07-12-2007 09:25 PM

No luck with the WEP200, BT5010, SM100, NC1 or Bluemini. The phone is getting returned until they can fix the problem.

Motorola HT820 / Plantronics Voyager 510

Curious to see if maybe one of these BT headsets might work with their Mogul?

Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headset Simultaneously Source Phone and Music

or

Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology

I didn't see these models listed in previous posts. Thanks.

willysp 07-16-2007 09:56 PM

My nXZEN 5500 works fine.

I have a 6000 on order - will report when I get it. (Reviews I've seen indicate it'll be OK)

Any updates from anyone else that has updated the ROM?

I've updated the ROM. I currently have two BT headsets. Both could connect before but they both sounded like hell to my clients. Now only one of the two will connect and it still sounds like doo doo.

toolz 07-17-2007 12:57 AM

the new rom seems to have improved mine abit as far as it being louder for me through BT and regular earpiece. but i didnt have a problem with ppl hearing me before and i use a plantronics 330

chadsock 07-18-2007 10:22 PM

I was having the same problems with my bluetooth being choppy. I called HTC and Sprint and didn't receive any help. I took my phone to a sprint store and they swapped it out. The new phone already had the rom update and I have had no complaints of it being choppy using bluetooth. If everyone takes their phone back I am sure that will motivate them to get a fix out and address the issue.[/quote]

Do you know what hardware version you have? I guess I could always try to swap it out if there isnt a fix here soon.

jaak 07-19-2007 10:51 AM

Has anyone had any experience with bluetooth on the Telus 4000?

This might indicate if it was really a hardwre issue since the Telus 4000 is using WM5.

boe 07-22-2007 01:01 PM

Firmware update doesn't help.

It is a shame they rushed out a firmware update so Sprint could sell you music but not to fix the problems with the phone.

sntmods 07-22-2007 02:58 PM

Well, at least I know the Bluetooth isnt total crap. I can send and receive data from my PC to the Mogul without issue. Now I wish I could setup my bluetooth for phone as modem.

HobbesIsReal 07-23-2007 11:02 PM

After reading thru several BT headset threads for the Mogual on different forums, one headset seemed to be fairly consistent with delivering results....the Jabra 8010. So today I bought one.

The headset itself is REALL COOL!!!!! It has two pieces. The first is the real BT headset for using with phone calls. It has a screen on the headset and is extremely comfortable. I haven't had a chance to test all of its features but is suppose to be able access the last 15 callers and place a call from that list or create a headset phone book of your 30 favorite people and use that to call....all without touching you phone.

Then when you want to listen to your MP3s you plug in the second head set and switch it BT Stereo mode and then listen to your music.

Now the connection to my Mogul is okay with some issues. For the most part it sounds "okay" to the other end....like speaker phone quality. I have had a few breakups but overwhelming in the okay and livable classification.

I went to a Verizon store and paid $99 for the BT headset, $29 for the second stereo earpiece (which they ship for free and do not carry in stock), and if I bought a third item I got $30 off the order. So I bought a nice pouch case that fits the Mogul perfectly for $19.95. So I ended up paying $10 less to get a free case for my phone too.

untouchablez 07-23-2007 11:47 PM

I've had my 6800 for about a week now and I've been using a moto h700 for about 4-5 hours a day since then & I haven't experienced any problems at all. All of my calls have been pretty good with no major issues.

HobbesIsReal 07-24-2007 02:39 AM

Update: I just fully charged the Jabra 8010 and then made 8 calls to my office phone and left at least 2 minute messages each talking about whatever popped into my head. When I listened to them there was no breaking up or nothing was garbled at all. Even though I could probably have guessed I was on a cell phone, I could never had guessed if I was on a headset or not. I am very happy with this BT on my Mogul!!

boe 07-26-2007 11:43 AM

I'd suggest we start calling them again at 866-449-8358

Apparently HTC misunderstood all of us when we called for a firmware update to fix the BT issue and thought we said please release a firmware update so we can give Sprint more money when we download music.

I'd suggest we start calling them again at 866-449-8358

Any updates

Anyone try HTC lately - any update info?

Audio issues even without BT...

Every single caller that I've talked to during the 20+ days that I've had this 6800 has complained of the same symptoms described here, such as choppy/hollow/tinny/cutting-in-and-out voice. But my BT headset hasn't even arrived in the mail yet! I've been getting these complaints with the stock wired headset as well as the regular phone and speakerphone. My last CDMA phone (a Sanyo 8300) gave me no such issues, so it can't be the service in my area. Has anyone else noticed such outgoing quality issues while not using BT?

willysp 08-04-2007 04:39 PM

I'm thinking about returning my phone - only a few days left in 30-day window. Would buy another if/when the BT problem is fixed.

I'm not convinced the problem is just the BT stack. If that's the case, I don't want to be stuck with something that a firmware upgrade can't fix.

czarcastic 08-04-2007 05:34 PM

I have had my 6800 for almost a month now. No BT problems with the original ROM or the update.

I use the Plantronics Voyager 510 which is about the best of the 8 or so BT headsets I have had in the last year or so. It even pairs to my E815 on VZW at the same time it pairs to my 6800 and both work just fine. Very comfortable for me as well.

Both phones are very heavily used for business and I could not tolerate poor sound quality.

Hope some of you are finding solutions with new ROMs or phones.

do you ever post anything relevant? you posted in the volume thread about treo's, and you posted in the bluetooth bug thread about evdo on a 6600. why are you here? do you know how to read? is this the first forum you have ever been to?

colonel 08-04-2007 08:39 PM

Actually, that is kinda relevant and pretty funny. It should have just been explained more for those who don't know. Basically, long story short, Sprint strung us out for months and months promising an EVDO upgrade for the 6600. I even got ahold of a test rom that was supposed to enable EVDO, but it did not work. We were able to hack into the network early, but it was not easy. Anyway, it is one of those "inside" jokes about how HTC/Sprint/Audiovox/UTStarcom was always "addressing the issue" and that "an update/fix will be available shortly".

Now, with that said, let's all keep a cool temper around here. I don't know if it is the summer heat or everyone is menstruating, but everyone seems very testy in the forums these days. Remember, everyone was a b00n at some point and everyone makes mistakes/typos.

dcd 08-04-2007 08:55 PM

ok i apologize then. based on his wonderful contributions to the volume thread, i assumed his post here was completely pointless too.

onthehunt 08-04-2007 11:46 PM

I use Plantronics 640 E bt headset. It works pretty good. I haven't had anyone complain about how I sound. My complaint is that sometimes I can't hear my husband well when he calls me from his phone which is a Samsung 920. Used to have the same phone before buying the Mogul and the same headset worked fine on that phone. Interestingly, when I first used the headset with my Mogul, my husband's calls sounded great. A week later, the volume declined significantly. I wish the volume was louder overall with the phone.

Now that actually makes it pretty funny. I'll keep my hopes down on the issues being fixed.

It's amazing how noobs don't know how to use the search button. Thanks for backing what most everyone on this forum already knew about HTC's past.

sandiegodude 08-05-2007 08:18 PM

to answer a previous poster regarding crappy outgoin voice quality from other than bt, i can attest to my wired headset driving people on the receiving end nuts. they complain about all the afore mentioned symptoms. yes. my wired headset and bt sucks but not the handset. this is making me nervous.

miediev 08-05-2007 08:35 PM

I've updated to the most recent ROM and my Discovery 655 still sounds terrible on the other end.

That's because the newest ROM didn't address the BT problems, just the Sprint Music Store. We'll have to wait a while longer for BT or memory fixes.

Thanks for clarifying. It's amazing to me they would release the mogul with these known issues. Especially the memory leak, that just uncalled for..

Remember that Sprint almost didn't release the Mogul because it had so many bugs that they had already identified. Their plan was to fix as many bugs as possible by the time that the RevA update was available and just release the phone at that time (probably October). The PPC community can now work on as many of the bugs as we can while waiting for official fixes.

nxthome1 08-06-2007 08:28 AM

I use the Plantronics PL-510 and always receive compliments on how good the headset sounds. I hooked it up day one when I received my Mogul and haven't had any problems getting it to work. I've used Motorolas before and they seemed to be the worst as I always got complaints about echoing when using them. I don't know if getting a phone after intro has cured the problem or not.

onthehunt 08-07-2007 07:56 PM

My husband does video production and works with audio a lot. When we first got our Samsung 920 phones, I tried several headsets. The newer headsets with the digital enhanced sound were the worst with voice echos, choppy sound, low/fading volume, etc. My husband says the background noise sensor is too sensitive in the new digital enhanced headsets and causes problems. I stayed with the Plantronics 640E since it worked best. The headset is a little older version and doesn't have the enhanced sound. I've had my phone for almost 3 weeks now and no one's complained about my voice using the headset.

I was using Bluetooth on the P4000 with WM5 and I had choppiness issues. I upgraded to WM6 and now i've also got spontaneous dropped calls due to the headset, choppiness, less distance....and WAY more aggravation!! Some upgrade.

I'm using a Motorola 700 headset
