I'll say it again... Palm did a great job. I have had a couple of frustrations with the 6800... random freezes, I cannot get Windows Live to work properly and it always freezes my phone, switching from portrait to landscape sometimes causes issues if there's an app on the screen, etc.

For the Treo folks out there, I'd suggest waiting till Sept before jumping to a 6800 (unless you really want one!) since I'm suspecting a new WM Treo on Sprint around that time. At least then you can make a better call on which one you want |

I got a chance to use the 6800 all day today at work, and i must say.... its pretty slick.
LIKES: -its quick once its up and running -the keyboard "springs" out and "snaps" into place -the feel of wm6 is nice, very smooth -file navigation was smooth and crisp -movies play quite well and the speaker is loud -very responsive, rotation when sliding is FAST even if you jumble it up and down multiple times really fast -has a few more customization options in the settings, nothing note'able however -small, fits in my hand real nice like -the keyboard feels awesome and is much nicer for quick txt messaging -keyboard went back to white back lighting (at least on the model i had) -for the stylus being on the bottom, it has a "snaP" in feature so it wont fall out, unsure if it will "un-snap" after heavy or prolonged use -the new battery door, seems like it will stay on better than the 6700 DISKLIKES: -to many freakin buttons -the wifi switch (gay) -nothing at all better regarding the OS than the current ROM kitchen aside from its slick look (reminds me of vista.... looks nice, but its just XP in a nice tuxedo) -harder to keep in my hand, feels nice, but no antanae will take some getting used to -to many freakin buttons -the keyboard layout sucks. I know why they did it, but i miss having the numbers across the top -the stylus... GOD does it suck, its one of those lame retractable ones -the stylus going in from the bottom was lame, i kept tapping the top of the phone with it out of habit to put it away -no headset jack without a stupid proprietary splitter, and even then its a freakin proprietary one -micro SD slot being in the bottom, as if i havent lost enough cards.... -takes FOREVER to boot up FINAL VERDICT: meh....

I decided to go back to the 700wx. I got 700wx free after the rebates. this isn't worth the 400 I paid for the exchange on my razr. after 1 day of use im hating the slide to type and 2 hand use to type. it feels like its going to fall out of my hands everytime I type. very nice looking phone all around, and nice big screen but im going to stick with palm for a few months and save the money. good luck to those keeping it...see the rest of u on the treo forums.

Ok I dont know if anyone else had this problem with the 6700 but I lost 2 memory cards from it, the cards didn't seem to go in far enough. I'm not having the problem with my Treo. Does the card on the 6800 seem like its subsetpiable to come out easily?

For all those worried about loosing a stylus or card because they are on the bottom...When I first got my P4000/Mogul I was rather bugged about them being on the bottom, and had the same worries.
After two months of use, being carried loose in pockets where things can hit it, as well as all the everyday use it gets, it has not been a problem in the least. You will notice that it takes a concentrated effort to push the card in to eject it. Once in the two months I have had it, the card managed to get ejected, but there is enough friction in the slot that it only comes part way out. From there I couldn't even shake it out. The stylus is still staying in place very well. Although I think it will take more time for the sylus to get loose, so it may be a bit early to say. Dave |
