Re: Titan picked as phone of the year... For 2008!

i think a lot of people are missing the true point of the article, the titan is the phone of the year not because of what it does compared to the iphone.

the titan has come a long way since its launch and will continue to get better and better. for the iphone to get better you pretty much had to buy a new one, but not titan, you can keep flashing it with new roms and each time you do it gets even better than before. This is what makes it a great device and it deserves to be called the phone of the year.

What would really jumpstart that idea would be a new file format that would use less resources and work faster, or just an os that has a smaller footprint.

Re: Titan picked as phone of the year... For 2008!

I have had my Titan since 8/21/07. In order to make my phone usable, I've had to use no2chem's rom and at times, DCD's to get as much out of it as possible. Memory usage has always been an issue and it's really limited on how I use it. Thankfully, I've been on the SERO plan (which my current plan no longer exists) so my phone has more or less been used mostly for tethering to my laptop than be used as a typical phone/pda handheld.

I'd like to upgrade but I've heard rumors that if I did, Sprint will try to get me off my current SERO plan to their "Everything" plan which is twice more than what I'm paying now. Plus, I'm not real good at complaining or giving a convincing reason to having Sprint switch out my phone for Tpro.

Any suggestions on what I can do to switch it out for free and not having to risk losing my current SERO plan?

dont try to upgrade. just get it replaced. like through a store or insurance. TP does not require the new plans to be activated.

Yeah, and No2Chem just dropped a beta ROM release which adds 224 mb ram to the Titan, Touch Pro eat your heart out.

Re: Titan picked as phone of the year... For 2008!

So basically find a "reason" to replace the phone and hopefully, the Sprint Gods will issue me a TPro? I do have insurance on my phone... not sure how to really "break" it w/o doing that physically like throwing it against the wall or something.

Re: Titan picked as phone of the year... For 2008!

I Loved my Titan as well....especially because I could upgrade it. Thanks to everyone here who posted. It gave me so much knowledge. I switched roms several times & tried out about a hundred programs, UI's, games, etc. I can't tell you how much fun I've had doing it and couldn't have done it without that "buggy piece of dead weight".

I've now upgraded to the Touch Pro & again can't wait to begin seeing what all you guys have in store for it. Thanks everyone!
