HTC PPC6800 need some help with Texting and setup... please
Hello,
I just recently got rid of my Blackberry to go to the HTC PPC 6800 from US Cellular. So far i love it but i have to say that windows mobile is great but also makes some very simple things very complicated. 1.) Like texting.. Is there a way where i can get it so my Text Msg Screen shows both Inbox & Sent Box at same time. I dont like the fact i have to change each time to see msg sent. or also when u hit reply to a txt it dont even show u the message u are replying to just shows contact u sending to then empty page to reply? I loved my blackberry for txting it was very simple msg sent and recieved were all on 1 screen not seperate places, and also showed u the msg u are replying to. Msg u sent had an icon with a green arrow showing u sent it and msgs in had a mail icon. Any help here would be great if its even possible. 2.) I cant for life of me figure out how to get my Voicemail to dial and punch in the PIN by itself as i have with all my phones in past. I have gone in to settings/phone then added (,)'s or (*)'s for pauses but doesnt work. i have made a new contact with voice mail Number or 611(a us cellular thing) then commas(,)'s and PIN but again dont work. have also tried with (*)'s still nothing. I have to add in my PIN manualy every time :( 3.) Why is it when u X out of a program it doesnt actualy close it? if i go to settings/system tab/Memory/running programs tab shows all the programes running and i can stop them but they do not close on their own? Why? And is there a short cut to get to this screen to stop programs so i dont have to navigate like this all time just to close programs so not using up mem and resources. Im assuming this hurts battery life too with all them running in background? 4.) When using Vibrate i can not listen to MP3s with media player i have to actually turn off vibrate mode to have sound? This is not as big a deal but seems strange if i want to have my phone or msg vibrate me while i should be able to and listen to my MP3s? No? Any help is much appricated and thank you for your time. For the text messaging issue, the only way I know to have sent msgs and recieved msgs on the same screen is with threaded text. If your phone does not have it search around for codys threaded sms. It is not on here but an easy find on places like www.sprintusers.com. For your voicemail I do not know of a way to have the pin automatically entered when you call it, but I know with sprint you can disable the pin code feature by going through the menus during a voicemail call if you dont need the pin. To have the X button close programs, press it so the menu drops down, select the wrench for settings then the tab for button and select the option of end programs by tapping X. I do not know of a way to listen to music with the phone on vibrate or silence. I would like to be able to do this too but since the ringer uses the same speaker as the media player if the ringer is off the speaker is disabled. |

I will look into this see what i can find, thank you for the info. "To have the X button close programs, press it so the menu drops down, select the wrench for settings then the tab for button and select the option of end programs by tapping X." I tap on X and hold it there and i get no menu? is it cause my phone only has WM6.0? not 6.1? i go to windows update on my phone and says there are no avalible updates? As for the voice mail thing i will look into the fact not needing one but all my other phones i have had in past 5 or 6yrs i have had it pause then dial my PIN for me so its strange to me that i cant with this one lol but might be a WM thing. My first phone with WM. Again thanks so much for the time and the replies. :) |

Check www.htc.com from an update. Usually doesnt show on the phone. Make sure to select the country so it gives you the right phones.

You can flash it with a different rom but getting everything to work is a complicated process from what I have read. Check around the forum on how to do it if you would want to run a different carriers rom. |

That worked for me. |
Re: HTC PPC6800 need some help with Texting and setup... please
For #2. I use "nnn nnn nnnn pp xxxx". The n's are my number, followed by 2 p's for a pause long enough for it to answer, then my pin numbers. I'm on Altell, but the dialer should still recognize p for pauses...
For #3. Depending on the OS that you are running, holding the X may not work, but you can add software to add that functionality without doing an OS update. |

AWESOME this worked i tried it as u have it and worked great then for giggles took the # off the end and still works so just needed the "p" for pause mabye or Pin not sure either way it works thanks a ton. Now still have the issue of not having Windows Mobile 6.1 anyone have any more info on this? i have US Cellular and HTC site does not list my phone so there is no Rom upgrade for my USCellular so if use sprints mogul im sure lots will change. even basic setup stuff like what would have to dial for uscellular to get info if i had to call them if u follow me. they wouldnt be able to help me if somthing happens? |
