Animated splash screen help

All,
I need some help in figuring out why my animated splash screen will only play about 3 frames of the gif before it stops and will not play any more. From all of the info that I can find on here no one has run into this. I cooked my ROM with the latest using the PPCKitchen and have NO other problems with the ROM. I have I have tried "moving" the animated gif from one spot to another in side the Kitchen with 0 luck (for those of you who use the kitchen). I know that this should be working and am about to pull my hair out as to the cause of this. :(

Please SOMEONE help me!!!

Just an FYI, before I cooked this ROM I had the latest ROM with the GPS and the animated gif "Sprint Ahead" work as advertised.

How large is the gif file?

I had the same problem. I then just used the original default animation option and that solved it

The file that I am trying to use is 48K in size... not that big all said and done. Does that have anything to do with it? I might be able to cut it down in siz a bit...

No, I don't think that is the problem. Seems like that file is small enough.

Send me the .gif and I will see what I can do with it.
If you have seen me in the other thread talking about the startup animation and the splash screen, I have been working on those things now for about a week non-stop (I even make .cab installers for them).........

Sweet! you'll have to clue me in on how you make such thinks... i've been thinking about doing some stuff, but have no clue how to even start.
Which thread are you talking about? Is there a way that you can link it?

Take a look at the zip file and let me know if there is anything that I might have done wrong... also thanks for all your help!

Thanks, as soon as I get home from work I will be able to dive into that .gif and see what's up......I will do what I can and make you an easy .cab installer for it.

The file only had 4 frames to it to begin with.
I extended it abit (repeated the frame a couple of times).
Install it with the attached file and let me know how that is for you.

Thanks for such a quick turn arround! I have been trying for the last few days to tell you that it was not such a big deal... but my phone wouldn't let me sign in to the forum for some reason. Anyway... I will d/l it right now and let you know how it goes.

In testing this I still only get about 3 frames. But, when I view it in PIE I see all of the frames in SLOW succession. I'm not sure what is going on...
Thanks for all of your help with this!

Sorry for the long delay, storms here caused by Gustav reaked havoc on power and net connectivity.
Have not been able to find anyting as it wonly shows few frames, one other thing I can try is to slow down the speed of the gif and see if that helps

Re: Animated splash screen help

I tried that with an old gif animator program that I have... it didn't seem to work. Of course this is before you gave me your file. Do you still have the original gif that you gave me?

Count -

The reason you're seeing more frames when you view it is that it's set to run 11 times (so you're seeing 44 "frames") the file itself only contains 4 images.

I've created one animation for my device...but later had to shorten it because the new stock ROM provides for less run time. Do you just want this to loop until the OS is ready?

How many frames or how long can the animated GIF be? I had to switch to a shorter one on my Mogul with the 20273 kitchen, because it prevented the next static screen from showing.

The original animated startup from Sprint was 85 frames. After loading the most recent stock ROM, I had to update my custom animation and take it down to 42 after discovering it was getting 'cut-off' at the end.

The attached is a .zip of my two animations...my avatar is a smaller, shorter version of the same.

To create it, I literally pulled off the Sprint animation and used it as a template to make sure that it would work (a little on the 'overkill' side, but that's me).

Do you suppose you could work your magic on the stock Sprint animation, the one with "Sprint ahead" and "Rated for SprintSpeed"? I'd like to use that in the PPCGeeks kitchen, and I the chefs might too. :)

Re: Animated splash screen help

Well to be honest I really don't care how long it runs... I just want it to run long enough to see more than the 3 frames that I currently see. I guess... if I had to pick a number I would like to see in the neighborhood of about 15-20. Do I need to make the current 4 frames into 20? Instead of the repeating 4 that I have currently?

Anyone got anything on this? I would really like to put this one annoyance to bed!
