Re: External Coaxial Antenna
Where does an external antenna plug into the 6800? The only port I see is the USB-ish port... (Just curious).
Also is there an hookup or is it shared for using as an external Wifi antenna? |

Re: External Coaxial Antenna
There are amplifiers out there that can boost your signal significantly. My family had one for our old bag phone back in the '90's and we got crazy good reception everywhere. It's too bad analog is gone and bag phones are part of history, our's put out over 3 watts of power if I remember correctly which gave us a really good signal. Phone's these days put out well under 1.

Re: External Coaxial Antenna
I think the usefullness of this product is based on what your usage is.
I agree that if you want to do a by the cheapest plan possible and split the minuts across 4 phones, then buy this and go with the unlimited plans, then you might come out ahead. But otherwise this is a ripoff. I would gladly pay $100 for the device, I might even pay $5/month for the privilage of utilizing their voip servers to make unlimited calls. But once I have the device they are going to CHARGE me to use MY internet connect which I already pay for to route my calls over a VOIP network to their servers (thus bypassing the cost and load of using towers). So basically, I pay for my minutes (of cell tower use) and I pay for my internet, and Im going to pay them to use my internet to take the load off their systems. Ya... this is definately targetted at people who arent intelligent enough to figure this out. Antenna and Amp here I come!

Re: External Coaxial Antenna
not to argue against anyones excellent advice, but you'd might be interested in searching my threads and finding the one where i lost all signal hahaha
i was trying to improve my signal too, and by doing so officially fooked up my internal antenna so that i can only use "external" anntenas. So what i have now is copper wire that is smushed inside the case. the only saving grace i have is that i have the extended battery, so there's actually enough room for this. It's wrapped around the battery. If i had the standard battery i don't know if it would work. so basically, don't stick something in the antenna port and twist! noooooooooooo hahaha GOOD LUCK! :P
