Re: Internet Sharing

I have a lot of problems connecting through internet connection sharing. When I am tethered through USB I end up dropping the connection like every five minutes. I have always had this problem with every rom I have had. If I use my 6800 with the WMWIFIrouter my connection is definately more stable but it sucks down the battery so quickly. I can even plug my phone into the charger and the battery will still get sucked down faster than it can be recharged. Is there anything that I can do to make my internet connection sharing more stable through USB?. I have checked out the PPST and the EVDO is on the proper setting (Enabled). I have tried doing speed tests (speedtest.net) and I get a download speed of 625kbs and upload of 325kbs indictive of RevA. I just don't understand, please help!

Re: Internet Sharing

thats just what i did and i see a much bigger difference. PPl say it didnt make a difference, but i saw it. I didnt see a difference on my phones browser, but using Internet Sharing i DEFINATELY saw the difference when i enabled it! But hey, if you want a stable connection just dont touch the phone or USB cable AT ALL while it says "Connected" i dont touch it, and says on for hours. Once i nudge the phone, pick it up, move the cable etc it throws the connection off. I just lay it flat and leave the stylus out in case i need to use it while connecting etc. Be gentle once its connected and your set to go!

Re: Internet Sharing

Has anyone confirmed how to prevent data charges for tethering using the new ROM? I know to change the "Phone as Modem" entry to "Sprint PCS" to force it to use the right connection or down right delete it to restore the menu, but the "Extension=RILPhone.dll" extension is different. It now points to a "ISExt.dll" or something like that.

Re: Internet Sharing

I'm a bit skeptical myself, I haven't tethered yet extensivley. I'm waiting for a full billing cycle to pass and see if anyone reports charges, lol.

Re: Internet Sharing

ha ha no no ones going to get charged...if you pass over theyre not going to do anything. BUT, if you go over extensively for 2 months in advance, you'll receive a phone call from Sprint. Pretty much a slap in the hand lol

Re: Internet Sharing

I know, I know. I just have no reason to tether that frequently.

Re: Internet Sharing

I only average about 1GiB a month of data usage. I'm not so much worried about going over the limit as I am about any changes to ICS that could allow Sprint to tell whether the connection is being shared to a PC. Just overly paranoid I guess. Why Sprint cares how the data connection is used if it's unlimited (read=5GiB/Mo) is beyone me, let alone how they think they can limit our usage of a device that belongs to us. It'd be like telling someone they can only use their DVD Burner to READ DVDs and not burn.
