EVDO vs 1X battery life
i'm intrigue by this anandtech.com article concerning the iphone 3g vs the iphone 2.5g battery life.
the article shows that the 2.5g iphone has significantly more battery life vs the 3g counter part. ![]() i'm wondering if we could maximize the titan battery life by using it as 1x mode only instead of the evdo mode. now, i use my phone primary as a phone. occasionally i surf the web a bit and 1x is fine with me, so if there is significant battery life saving, i'm happy with that. whenever i tether to my laptop, i can always switch the phone back to evdo mode. |

Re: EVDO vs 1X battery life
I also only use the phone's web features sporadically. What I do is force the phone into 1x mode but when I want to surf the web, I reset it to EVDO. This seems to allow my phone's battery to last longer.
To do this, you need to modify your registry to enable the menu as follows: HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/PhoneSetting Change the key "HiddenModeOperationPage" to 0 Then go to Settings | Phone | Services | Mode Of Operation Change to desired setting (Hybrid=best available, 1x=force 1x mode and EVDO=force EVDO mode) then soft reboot your phone. When you want to change back, just go to Settings | Phone |Services | Mode of Operation and select the proper setting. Hope this helps. |
