*SOLVED* Is there anyway to separate the native threaded sms app and email?

Hey guys, I was used to having cody's threaded sms installed with the today softkey shortcut and loved it. Now that I'm running WM6.1, I want to take advantage of the native threaded sms but hate having to select back and forth between sms and email in pocket outlook. I have the option for the selector turned off so now everytime I want to check a text, it opens pocket outlook and, depending on whether I viewed email last, I have to scroll through email accounts until I get to sms. Cody's was separate and was a lot quicker to access either sms or email.
I know a couple of extra clicks might not sound like much time to you, but a one button solution would REALLY make my life a life worth living.

Any ideas on separating the apps?

Thanks!

SOLUTION

e.

Instructions:
For Hotmail Users ONLY:
1. Install cab
2. Navigate to Start/Settings/Personal/Buttons and Assign Button #1 to EMAIL instead of messaging
3. Navigate to Start/Settings/System/Softkey/ assign the left softkey for "new SMS"

Viola! Designated Shortcuts! Now you never have to poll between the two again!!!

Thanks to Rainfreak, Darkness231, and especially BOZ at XDA for developing the softkey app.

I know the call is to \windows\tmail.exe and if you want text messaging you use the command '-service "SMS"'.

If you have UL or rlToday installed you could make a theme (or just a button/link) to call that and it will work. Something like this:

<OnClick File="\Windows\tmail.exe" command='-service "SMS"' />

Re: Is there anyway to separate the native threaded sms app and email?

Thanks rainfreak,
Yes, I have Boz softkey changer installed and have a softkey shortcut pointing to "new SMS" That works great, the problem is, after I send or receive a text and need to send an email, the outlook button goes to text instead of email. I then have to press it again to get to email. Basically, I want the Poutlook button (the envelope) to access emails only, not have the option to poll between txts and email accts. Suggestions?

I made a shortcut to take you straight to text messages a while back, but I don't think that you can completely disable the swapping between the portions of outlook

Thanks!!! I downloaded the shortcut you made and changed the name to "SMS" and copied it to my windows/programs folder. I then installed the attached file (I forget who I got it from) and assigned my left soft button to SMS. No need to reboot. Now each time I press the button it takes me directly to my SMS regardless of where I left off in Outlook.

Can we make a shortcut to "email" and set it for the envelope button? instead of messages?

Re: Is there anyway to separate the native threaded sms app and email?

I think the title of this thread should be change to "how to launch SMS with one click" or something to that effect. Kinda got confused the first time I read the title assuming you want to separate the data.

I would like to do this also. There has to be a way since the mail soft button for HTC Home plug in takes you directly to email. As long as you have only 1 email set up. This would be pointless for those who have multiple emails setup.

Re: Is there anyway to separate the native threaded sms app and email?

would a .lnk file like this work?
"\Windows\tmail.exe" command='-service "EMAIL"'
or should the EMAIL be OUTLOOK or something else?
