activesync 4.5 problems

I have the Mogul ppc 6800 for sprint, and I have been unable to use the ActiveSync 4.5. I get a message on my computer that it is having trouble setting up a directory on my computer. Please help me with being able to do this. I can't even get the comptuter to reconize that the phone is connected to the computer.
