GPS Distance Measurment?

I've posted a topic like this over in software but I received 0 replies in about a week so I've decided to post my question here because I've seen several GPS question to see if anyone has a recommendation.

On the Mogul Does anyone know of any software that will allow you to click two points or use the GPS and a point on a mapping program (preferred with satellite view) and get the linear distance. I know it will tell you how far from where you are to your destination via the roads, but I'm wanting an off road application for things like golfing or hunting or trivial use. I'm looking for any suggestions. I've found several Google Maps API's that will allow this, I don't know if it's possible to install this on a pocket pc. Any help is greatly appreciated.
