remove (uninstall) the unknown device from device manager.... maybe?
if your on xp, its activesync - on vista tis WMDC

you could use email to attach cab files and send them to yourself and then retrieve them on the phone, or upload them to an FTP and download from the phone, etc. Anything requiring a desktop EXE install generally requires activesync.

well i dont know if thats whats wrong but you know when you first open up the activesync on your device it says to set upyour device tosynce with i clicked on it and know what do i do i dont get what to do its asking me for a user name and password and domain what do i do
