Re: wireless troubleshoot

Hey Peepeesea,

I have the same issue you described. The Wi-Fi used to work intermittently but now it's pretty much FUBAR. I had the issue with my stock Telus ROM and with the kitchen rom 5060. I have no more warranty on my phone so I can't get it replaced without buying a new one. There are actually a couple of threads about this topic already, but no one has come up with a solution. I'm thinking it's a hardware failure of some kind. I'm going to try to upgrade to the new radio rom and see if that fixes the issue and I'll let you guys know if it worked.

Re: wireless troubleshoot

i was under the impression if i use the stock rom it also updates the radio. i flashed back to stock but it still did the same thing as i mentioned before. i guess it would make sense if it only updated the radio if you have an older version which i don't. my question is, can i flash the radio, just the radio with out hurting the phone with the same version it already has just to see if that might fix the wifi issue?

Re: wireless troubleshoot

have you checked the "power mode" options under "wireless LAN" settings. default is typically "best battery" combined with poor antenna and i think we may have found your problem.

edit* just to let you know, i've got insurance so I set mine to "best performance", but this does generate a lot of heat and kills the battery.
edit2* what's the manufacture date on the phone? htc should honor the 1yr manufactures warranty

Re: wireless troubleshoot

oh i am very familiar with every wireless setting and trust me the power setting was the first i checked but that doesn't seem to do anything and it defiantly doesn't solve my issue.

i checked under my battery but i don't see a manufacture date anywhere. i actually got this phone as a replacement for my 6700 from asurion about 2 weeks ago and it supposed to be a "new" phone. i'm not sure if i should have asurion send me another or if i could just go to the sprint store a block from my house and get it replaced through them....

Re: wireless troubleshoot

Yes. If you flash with the new ROM it updates to the new radio. However, there is a new Radio released with Alltel's new ROM. It's version 3.37.20 You can get it ovr at XDA. I still haven't had a chance to update it yet.
