Re: What Could Cause the Mogul to Be Extremely Unresponsive?
I was getting sluggishness with the new ROM because one of my GPS programs was configured wrong. I think it was hogging system resources in a vain attempt to communicate with the internal GPS. When I fixed the setting, the program works fine now, and the system sluggishness went away. Possibly you've got something like that going on.

On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2) (i can't tell the difference, still slow to me) -=- 22-add the AM/PM to your time in the title bar To Add AM or PM 1) Open your registry editor (either PHM Registry Editor or Resco Explorer 2003). 2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides 3) Create 1st String Value: Name = S1159 & String = Am 4) Create 2nd String Value: Name = S2359 & String = Pm 5) Create 3rd String Value: Name = STFmt & String = hh:mm t'M' 6) Soft-reset There has to be a space after the am or pm otherwise it will not display Also am=aM pm=pM Am=AM Pm=PM -=- 24-This edit allows you to see the duration of your Vision connection along with a button to disconnect it. Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Click ControlPanel Click Phone [at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone' Click the bottom menu 'edit' Select new dword value Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes). Select the 'hexidecimal' button. Type 10 Click ok. You should now see in the 'name/data' section: Flags2 16 (0x00010) When done, reset the device. -=- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SlidingSound. Create a new key with value of the next available number (eg. 3) ----A.) In this new key, set the (Default) string value to a friendly name for your sound (eg. Star Trek Communicator) ----B.) Create a new String named in with a value set to name of your sliding in sound file (eg. 3_in.wav). ----C.) Create a new String named out with a value set to name of your sliding out sound file (eg. 3_out.wav). (i'm using transformers) -=- All of those I listed work on my phone with the new rom as of 3/30/08 And i have the following software installed: PHM Registry editor, hudson mobile phone dashboard, google maps, skunkworks flash video bundle, ae software ae button plus, spb time, spb pocket plus, spb phone suite, spb mobile shell, spb backup (doesn't work with this rom anymore), dinarsoft memaid, webis flexmail 2007, tcpmp, burr oad software conversions in hand, nilisco flashlight app, hermledd & icnot (depreciated because of nueLED), GetSPC (for MSL#), nueLED, pocket nester for NES. Re: What Could Cause the Mogul to Be Extremely Unresponsive?
I'm having this same problem. It started after updating to the new Rev A/GPS Rom from Sprint. I've just recently noticed that when the device becomes unresponsive, the signal strength icon is showing data transfer. The device is acting like it is becoming bogged down while sending or receiving a large amount of data. The last time it became unresponsive, I hit the Com manager button, triggered airplane mode, and the device instantly became responsive again.
I'm stumped though. The only thing I have running in the background is Outlook which is checking my Gmail every 15 minutes. I ran across Spybot Search & Destroy for WinMo standard and PPC last night. was thinking of installing it and see if it discovers any possible malware. I highly doubt it though since I never surf to unknown websites or open unknown mail. I should also say that I did make some reg edits for better power managment. But they were done with the previous Sprint Rom AND after the new Sprint Rom was installed. Never had a problem with the previous Sprint Rom. |
