I can hear the caller when phone is ringing
 

This is my problem
After flashing my phone with custom roms like no2chem and nexvision.. sometimes when someone calls me while the phone is ringing I can hear what the person is talking at the other end without answering the call.
does this happened to someone else?

I am currently using vetvito's 6.1 rom and do not have this problem. Would be cool for some people calling though... like the wife/girlfriend or the office... nice to know what they are saying when they thought I wasn't listening yet... would be a nice feature to have when you wanted it. Though I understand that you do not want it and it is frustrating you...

Well its not that I like it or not.. the thing is that I cant control it.. and I wonder if they can hear me too..
I can hear them like if it was on speakerphone. but not too load.. but I can hear anything happening at the other end.

i am on my 3rd mogul and each one had this issue. so i am not sure if all of them do it or its just sumthin that happens at random. i have upgraded to rev a and i still have this issue every once in a while

My Touch is doing this now running JD Rom. I thought I was just losing my mind thanks for confirming that this is at least possible. I only wish I could better understand the talking before I hang up as of now it's too inaudible but it's deffinately there.

My mogul does this somtimes since i've flashed to the official rom, seems random when it happens though

Yeah but this is some other issue..

And Im being serious about this.. some people can take it funny, but im not making this up.

I just want to know is there is a work around or just an explanation.

Happens to me constantly. I initially contributed it to the fact that I was keeping the phone in my shirt pocket and thought that maybe the talk button was getting pressed while removing it. But the more I think of it, I do still have to press talk to answer while I can hear the caller. Very strange...

I am operating the OEM ROM with some xtra apps.

This has happened to me once since flashing 3.35, but I remember a thread on the same topic last fall (i.e. pre-GPS enabled ROMs). Very weird.

Yeah this happened to me as well.

It was a feature on Sprint phones in the past. You could hit a key when someone was calling you to listen in.

What! I can see why it would be "in the past"... Strange feature to offer.
Even stranger that it is appearing in phones today.
isn't there an option on the mogul to automatically answer the call after x amount of rings? If you are still having to hit 'talk' to officially answer the call, I guess this would be disabled, but still... weird!!

i love this "super power"..no, the other party cannot hear you..but i asked someone to call me back and say something before i picked up. they believe i have super powers..it does not happen all of the time, i dont mind it when it does happen though. i guess if it happened every call that'd get annoying.

Happened to me before. But the person I was calling was within 2 feet away. I could hear my phone ringing through my speaker. We decided it was just because we were so close. It hasn't happened again, though.

This happened to me 3.35 Rom. I had a call coming in I could hear the person talking tp someone. My phone said answer but would not no matter how many times I hit answer. Funning think when I went to call history it did not show up in any filter. I called the person latter and they said they did not call. By the way the phone rang at least 15 times, would not stop even with off button, had to soft rest.

Lol!!!!!!!! That Happened To Me Too!!! I Was Listening To My Music Through My Headphones And Suddenly I Heard A Buddy Of Mine B4 The Phone Started To Ring Till I Picked Up, Wierd Though.... We Had A Good Laugh Saying That My Mogul Was Haunted, But Its Great For A Quick Spy On Pple To Listen To What They Say If U Dont Pick Up

I noticed that this only happens when someone who has sprint call me.. dont happen when their is other carrier calling me..
I test it today with my sister's phone and I actually can hear anything, before I pick up.

I wish they would bring back screen call. it would come in handy so much!!!! i mean they are taking away Sprint PCS Voice Command ( Dont get it confused with Microsoft Voice Command) so thats the least they should do. Anyway back to topic, ive only had it happen once and that was with the 2.17 ROM upgrade by Sprint

My wife started to complain about this on her mogul shortly after upgrading to 3.35. The weird part is, I have also heard it on my apache, but only after putting wm6.1 on it.
I could hear her talking to her sister while the phone was still ringing one day..

I'd miss alot of important calls by just answering caller ids i knew. my dad has a regular right around entry level samsung that has screening. its pretty cool. you can play something on it like call tones and hear what they say or just make a recording asking the caller to state their name.

I had that Issue with ROM 2.9 I believe it is. The issue did not happen until I installed photocontact Pro and ran the REJECT option. After that I had the enigma. Now... I have a new phone and did not install the photocontact, but it happened again when I upgraded to the new ROM. Now I have seen that this "curse" happens when someone from Sprint calls me... If the person is from another carrier I do not have the issue. And believe me, it sounds fun and everything until your mother calls you and while she is waiting she is cursing someone else... I was at my job and everybody heard... Man the worse day of 2008 so far. So far sprint reps had a tough time understanding... They have never heard of such thing... Actually it took me 10 minutes to get the rep to understand the issue but oh well I have learned to live with it...

This is happening to me too on my Touch with a cooked ROM. It's darn irritating, random, and apparently uncontrollable. Any solutions? I can see where it might be useful if you could control it.

Reading this whole thread and that sounds like a network issue with Sprint. I ran into a similar problem with USCC with the V3c razr when it was first released. USCC knew about the problem and after a couple of weeks it was resolved.

I have been having the same problem and I have only upgraded to the new HTC Alltel Rom. Mine only happens once in a while, and I've noticed that it's usually related to a memory issue. If I have several programs running and I'm up over 80% that's when it happens. Once I perform a soft reset everything goes back to normal.

I don't think this is specific to Sprint, since I have Alltel and am having the same problem. I think it's related to a memory leak...
