Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

TheShade001 your post was great. It was a very clear description of exploring the Registry and making a smart repair. I learned a lot. Thanks. Unfortunately, my registry already had the "{xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx}\TNETW12511" entry with the adaptername already in place. Do you have any other suggestions? My Mogul still does not work on WiFi since I installed the latest sprint March ROM. Thanks.

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

hmmm. I do not want to pretend that i am a guru on this so if there are any pros out there, by all means, correct me. That being said, all i can do is give you my thoughts.

You said that the wi-fi was not working on your mogul? Can you browse the internet through your LAN? Whether the comm manager is installed or not shouldn't affect whether or not your wi-fi is actually working. All the comm manager does is switch the wi-fi on and off. When the device name is not set correctly, it will not disable your wi-fi(even though the icon shows it X'd out). The button on the comm manager will just not work. You should still be able to connect to a LAN.

it sounds like you are having similar problems that others in this thread are having. My wi-fi has been working great, but i have only had it for 3 weeks. I am getting nervous now.

Just to help you troubleshoot, i am using the most recent sprint rom(the same one you have) and my wi-fi is working. So i don't think it is a rom issue.

Sorry i can't be more helpful. Let me know how it goes.

good luck.

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

Hi, I have my Mogul for about 9 months. Originally the WiFi worked great at all locations. I have Strong WiFi Router (sometimes a Linksys WRT-350N and other days a WRT-54G) within a few feet of the Mogul. Three laptops work full time on the Router without any problems. The Mogul no longer finds the Router 90% of time. I have a strong EVDO signal at my house, but I wanted to test the WiFi at the house. Also the Mogul WiFi does not work over 10% of the time at locations where it would be very helpful. I hate taking a good Mogul to Sprint for replacement, when they give you a remanufactured Mogul with more problems then the unit you gave them. Every other feature works great. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

My wifi stopped working as well. The switch went bad. It was out of warranty. I repaired it by removing the swith and usin a circuit writing pen to turn it on. For those that don't know what one is, a circuit writing pen has conductive ink in it so you can draw traces, jump connections on the board etc. I installed the ten key comm mananger and abra cadabra, I can turn it on and off, better than new, in my opinion, the switch was a bad ideas in the first place.

no need. wifi is in fact controlled via drivers and the switch can be manipulated in software as well.
No2chem has been working on this, and the last few test roms have functioning wifi without using the switch, in-fact many are using for ring/vibrate.

I'm not saying it's "stable" yet, but I would recommend software over physical tweaks anyday..

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

I disassembled the mogul to see what was up with the switch. I was able to get to it somewhat function be pressing the switch against the board and applying pressure toward the on position. But this also made the problem apparent... and worse as the solder connection on one side of the switch was bad and the switch eventually fell off.

I have since flashed to the latest from nuerom to see if the hardware switch app would help. Unfortunately it still does not see any networks. So i am wondering if adding a jumper between any of contacts would fix the issue. Is the antennea signal actually routed through the switch?

Re: Trouble with Wifi on PPC Mogul 6800

Hello,

I too have never been able to get my Mogul to connect to Wifi. Even when I take all the security settings off my router. It does see the SSID but, when you hit "connect", it says "connecting" and then goes back to "availible". My switch does work and it does not matter which ROM it has. Any suggestions?
