I 'think' imap can do this because from the way you described my gmail do this when they are forwarded.

My problem is I have to move the mail to the Gmail/Trash folder to delete it. If I just delete it on my device, it stays in the Inbox on the website. So, I move them to trash to essentially delete them. Anyway around this as well?

from your device email inbox press menu > tools > options > (select email account to edit) > edit account settings > advanced settings > change dropdown in the "When deleting messages:" area to "move them to server trash".
