From my experience you must have your battery at 100% and charging while using WMWiFiRouter. Wifi and your data connection running simultaneously kills my battery in about an hour. Please post your experience with it.

I just went to their website and it stated that the trial software versions will expire on April 14, 2008. :(

There is a free version from before the cat started charging for it. If you search the interweb I'm sure you'll stumble across it.

that is correct. If your battery is anything less than 100%, one of two things will happen:

1.) If your phone is not on the charger. this program will RAPE your battery. When I say RAPE i mean it!!

2.) If your phone is on the charger, and not at 100% when u start the program, it will slowly kill your battery. The charger wont supply enough current to keep the charge positive and run your data and wifi connection.

I though my phone was charging the first time, and when i finished using the program, and took my phone off of the charger, it was at 20%.

Just a few words of wisdom

WMwifirouter v0.91 is the latest free version.'

Read this link, as they have a link to download it:
http://freewarepocketpc.org/2008/com...to-accesspoint

I am sure that the person who developed this has made some changes to the newest release, so although the product is to come out of Beta in April, you may want to try the latest one.

I haven't used ICS Control, only WMWIFIRouter, and I only used it a few times and the program is Exceptional. Once it is connected you can search on your laptop for WIFI signal (I believe the SSID is: WIFIRouter), and later set your encryption (although admittedly I haven't used it enough to need to set this.)

Just saw it today. Haven't used it yet. Have used WiFiRouter and works well.

I just installed WMWiFiRouter v0.91 and ran the software. It connected with "phone as modem". Did you have "phone as modem" or "Sprint PCS" ? How do you make it connect as "Sprint PCS"?

If I use this WMWiFiRouter will sprint see me and start charging tethering charges?

rambrush 03-31-2008 09:44 PM

Re: WMWirelessRouter

No sprint should not be able to notice because you are conecting through Sprint PCS #777# and not PAM phone as a modem.

Re: WMWirelessRouter

Ok, great. I just tried it and it works terrific. Battery drain is intense as fortold.

But one thing I noticed is I can no longer connect to my home network WiFi access point. Yes, i have ensured the WMWiFiRouter program is disabled and I even ended its the task for it. Ill try again when I get home but it was slightly concerning.

Re: WMWirelessRouter

So i followed the direction for setting up WMWifiRouter per the Apache forum (didn't see on in the Titan forum) and I'm still not conecting. Right now I'm in "network & Sharing" (Vista of course) and it says my Mogul connection is unidentified. Any thoughts on this?

Can anyone give a detailed setup for the Mogul with Vista or point me to the right thread?

What do you mean Mogul with Vista? Are you talking about using mobile device center to sync your mogul to you pc?

No. Setting up a Wireless connection for my laptop through WMWifRouter. I think I have everyhing setup right, but it keeps saying my Mogul is a unidentified connection.

That is what WMWifiRouter is for, right? I thought I read that was what it was for. I'm not sure though

Should I delete the connection I created and start a new one?

This should be easy. just open the internet sharing on your ppc, then plug your PPC into your pc, then click connect. Thats all I've ever done and I run vista. You might have to let vista load its drivers the first time I don't remember.

Stupid question: Do I need to turn my wiFi on? And did I need to go through setting up a connection on my Mogul?

Re: WMWirelessRouter

Have you setup your registry settings? Did you make sure that you set up the adhoc connection as stated in the tutorial.. I totally forgot to do this once and took me an hour before I caved and re-read the instructions.. Thought I had it all memorized..

anyhow.. throw the wifi switch to the on position.. goto settings, connections, network cards, add new.. give it an ssid (name that you want it to show) click on this is an adhoc network.. click next - set it to open and set your encyption .. wep or not.. and then run the program..

after that hit refresh on your pc for finding wifi and presto.. DONE.. works..

YES it will drain the hell out of your battery!

OTherwise sweet software!

Using wmwifirouter v1.01 RC3, everything works fine. Did numerous speed test and it feels the same as if it were tethered.
