Memory usage before and after 3.35

WOW, Voice Command seems to have made a big difference in my free memory on my mogul.

I have some basic apps installed on my Mogul (latest ROM).
SPB Mobile Shell 2.0
SPB PocketPlus 4
SPB Phone Suite
SPB Diary
SPB Backup
Resco Explorer+Registry Editor
nueLED
Memmaid 2.0
TomTom
TouchPal kb
PDANet
etc.
Nothing special, a couple more common apps/games - nothing that runs in background or should use memory when not loaded.
Voice Command

Anyway, I have noticed that my free memory is lower now and the only thing that has really changed is that I am now using Voice Command 1.6.

With 2.17 after reset I had 18-19mb and after basic usage it would hover around 16-17 (after a RAM reclaim).

Now, with 3.35, I start with about 19 and then it drops while loading something (most likely VC startup) and by the time everything is loaded after reboot Im working with 17mb. After basic use it hovers at about 15mb or so. Mobile Shell 2 is actually supposed to use less than ver. 1.5 but who knows. PP4 and Shell are surprisingly easy on memory. All I know is VC 1.6 Seems to use a lot of memory. My Mogul doesn't feel any snappier than it did before the updated. Sometimes, switching between tabs even seems slower.

After a clean 3.35 ROM install (+ sprint extras) with no Apps I booted with 21 or so. I know its what I have installed but nothing seemed to be a major offender until VC was installed. It seems like its taking around 2mb all by itself, seems high.

My Startup looks like this:
TPStartup.exe - TouchPal
poutlook.ink
SPBMobileSHell.ink
MemMaidTweaks.ink
Voice Command.ink

My most hungry running processes (when running around 11-12mb free)
gwes.exe - 4.39mb
device.exe 2.64
filesys.exe 2.19
voicecmd.exe 1.81
cprog.exe 1.36
shell32.exe
mobileshell.exe 1.29

And again after soft reset: (17.3 free)
device.exe 2.62
filesys 2.6
voicecmd 1.42
gwes.exe 1.4
mobileshell.exe 955.62kb

Thoughts?

Oh ya, is there anything i need to do to uninstall/disable the HTC Task Managers? PocketPlus has its own X-button task manager app. Im trying to streamline my mogul as much as I can. I guess there is no performance benefit or difference between running with 17mb and 12mb, as long as you dont run out - right? Does my mem usage seem about normal for what I have installed?

Re: Memory usage before and after 3.35

I'm loving the new update for ram usage....
Starts up with like...50-60% free (I'll recheck later) and keeps usage low throughout the day....Much better than whatever version I had previously....

Re: Memory usage before and after 3.35

I noticed an improvement in RAM management with 2.17 but not so much now. In terms of management it might be fine. I did start out with a good amount with a fresh install. I'm just starting out with less now that I have the same apps installed. Im not really blaming the ROM. I think its more VC's fault. How it takes close to 2mb to run when MobileShell.exe which is the entire Today screen layout for PP4 + Mshell2 only takes like 1.3 at most is beyond me. The voice recognition engine I guess.

Maybe VC 1.7 will be better. Isnt it about time for a new build anyway? How about some dictation of email/text!

Re: Memory usage before and after 3.35

I feel you man. Right now I have about 9 programs running + pocket plus and mobile shell 2.0, Im hovering around 5.7 available memory. With Voice Commander it would be around 2.0 and programs would start closing on their on own. Voice commander is a neat idea but simply not worth it for me right now if it means its going to slow down my whole phone. Ill wait for version 1.7 or or a new phone with more ram.

Wow, I've had the exact opposite experience. Uber low memory usage here.

Re: Memory usage before and after 3.35

I have very similar set up I get 20MB free when I restart and slowly as I start using all the apps I end up 8 and 5MB. Sucks I mean there is no way to get around that problem.

Not really pinning this on the ROM itself. It is really an issue of what you choose to run. I guess the topic should have been "Wow VC is a hog" haha

Ya, I had basically this same setup with 2.17 and got 19 or so. I guess its the VC. I dont see how this app can use 2mb.

Re: Memory usage before and after 3.35

Damn it almost seems like VC is leaking too. I dont know what else it would be. Nothing has really changed. I see my RAM dwindle from around 17mb to about 11-12 after 5-6 hours. I never noticed this with my previous lineup of apps (NO VC) with 2.17.

Has anyone elsed noticed this. I heard people complain about VC being a hog but this is ridiculous considering what it does.

Oh yeah, and to disable HTC Task Manager, just go to the thing for it in the control panel, there are two checkboxes, uncheck them and HTC task manager is disabled.
