clean esn?

hypothetically.... i pay a monthly charge to insure my verizon 6800 though a third party company. if i want to make a claim i pay 50 dollars and get a new phone over nighted to me... if i claim i lost the phone, and have them send me a new one, will the esn of the old phone be documented as the phone being lost or what? i just want to know if its possible to resell the old phone... hypothetically.. thanks

Re: clean esn?

what youre speaking of is called insurance fraud. which is illegal. and yes, the phone will have a esn that reads "lost/stolen"

You could sell it, but at a reduced price... probably make at least enough to cover the 50$ charge. The buyer wouldn't be able to use it until some method comes out for changing the esn on the 6800. Then they could clone the esn from a different phone and bam.

You'd have to be careful who you sell it to though. If they try to activate it with the bad esn and get caught, they could tell Sprint who they bought the phone from and you'd be in trouble.

Parting it out might be a better option.

You can sell it as a bad esn/only as parts. That is your best bet dude. Ive sold a insurance claim phone before by mistake and almost got in trouble for it.
