The login never works but if you go to mycast.orb.com you should be ok. I added the file server in my house to Orb and I watch my movies and TV shows when I am stuck on the train from Baltimore to DC.

There is an option for it to re-detect your bandwidth and (in theory) adjust compression and lower bitrate to make up for it. I notice that when I watch a movie and I go from RevA in Baltimore to a lower signal in DC where there are less Sprint towers it buffers a lot so I re-detect the network speed.

My main issue is that the screen will dim and shut off if I leave it running. I haven't figured out how to stop it from doing that. My GPS program will leave my phone on indefinitely but for some reason I can never get media player programs to do it.

If I am not mistaken, there is an option in WMPlayer to actually disable the dimming and screen shutoff. Or maybe it was in activesync...cant remember, but i think its out there

TCMP is much better for streaming video than WMP. The default setting is to not dim the screen while video is playing.

I used Orb for over a year and was quite happy with it until recently, when I upgraded my Vista to SP1. I could stream live video/audio from my cable box, but my Media Center recorded shows wouldn't play. I have since switched to WebGuide, which I am much happier with. It requires a little more legwork to set up, but is much nicer both in the mobile UI as well as the standard PC browser.

+1 on TCMP. The only way to reliably use ORB with the Mogul is let ORB stream FLV format and use TCMP and the flash plug-in. Much more consistent experience than WMP.

I used orb on my 6700 and now my 6800... sucks down the battery for video though, but who cares right!

I tried using WebGuide on my 2005 MCE, it was worse because I think WebGuide is using a lot more CPU resources (than ORB) to re-encode the video stream on the fly.

But I definitely agree that the mobile UI is much better on WebGuide.

Re: Orb to Titan...

I'm using it and it works pretty good as long as I have a good signal. Otherwise its pretty choppy. I haven't ben able to get live TV to work though, it just keeps buffering and never starts....no biggie though, I don't hardly ever watch TV anyway.....

I do kinda worry about the security of orb though...Id rather have a stand alone app that hosts the files. That way I could use windows authentication and security.
