ringer wont turn off

I installed Netcf 3.5 to get nuemms to work and now I have a problem with my sound.I've turned the ringer off and turn the volumes completely down but my phone will ring low or beep when I get a text. Anybody know what I can do to get it to recognize that its turned down or off? Cant have my phone ringing at work.
