Contacts- Windows Live & Outlook..

ok... i've started the horrible process of putting contact into my new phone..

Now I learned last night that if i use Window Live ( messenger ) my contacts sync with my phone and bring them in...... but what about Outlook??

is there any advantage of doing this in Outlook, or is it simply just the same thing..... And is outlook the only program that and import from the windows mobile... because also last night I learned that win live syncs, but won't import contacts that were put directly into phone....

thanx

I tried to sync my Hotmail (Windows Live) contacts but every time I try it it freezes my phone, and I have to soft reset it, so I gave up, but Outlook works with no problem of course when syncing with my PC, I guess the advantage is that in case you had to hard reset the phone your contacts is backed up already on your PC, I use also Yahoo Go 2.0 and it also syncs contacts with your Yahoo account, there is also www.Plaxo.com that will let you sync MSN, Yahoo, Google and even Outlook contacts and even calendar.

When you add contacts directly on the phone, you have the option of creating it as an Outlook or Windows Live. If you add it to Windows Live, it will sync with Windows Live *if* you told it to sync contacts during account setup. If you added it as an Outlook contact, you can add it to Windows Live later by click on it in the Contacts program and choosing Menu ... Add to Windows Live.

Anyway, there's no real advantage either way... both methods will allow you to sync your contacts for a backup, so it's purely a matter of which you prefer. If you use Windows Live for other things-- messenger, email, etc.-- I would say it's probably easier to keep them all in one place.

PS-- (to both you and 3boos) You may want to make sure that you're using the latest version of Windows Live as it fixes several issues with freezing up and other flaky behavior.
