Basic SMS question

This may seem trivial to some folks, but....

I prefer to use the default SMS app. I recently upgraded to DCDs 1.6.10 ROM and I have a small problem that I can't figure out.

Using the OEM ROMS, I could start typing the name of the SMS recipient in the "To" field and it would display possible phone book matches, just like when it suggests words in normal text. With DCDs ROM, for reasons unknown, I have lost that ability. It forces me to enter in the entire number (if I know it) or I have to take the extra step and tap right softkey...add recipient and scroll through the entire phonebook. It's a pain.

I have went throught the Input settings to no avail.

FYI- Its the exact same thing on my Touch (that IS running an OEM ROM)

Any info would be appreciated.
