Personalize you operators (carrier) name - APP- FREE
 

An app that allows you to change your operator (carriers) name. stays after a softreset. works on most htc devices, treos, and q's.

new version 2.0 EVERYONE that installed and earlier version should install this version over the other. much faster and stronger.

i moved the app to this site so that others didn't have to register. i was wrong... you still have to register, but at least now the attachment is an actual cab file so you can download from your phone and install. no more zip file.

post here... or there. i will try to support the app everywhere it is posted.

I just installed and I must say... I like it very much. On my Alltel device, it didn't state the carrier name and it was just a blank field. Your personalizer even adds the custom text at the top of the front of the Slide2Unlock screen. Now I can add my own little touch here...

doesn't work for me says load was unsuccessful

this worked for me but having to install it every time i flash was a bit much for me. so i used qpst and hard coded my own operator name into my phone. i find it works alot better

wow, you must hard reset a bunch. lol. and this operator name must be pretty important to you for you to hard code it into the phone.

to each his own though. this app wont be for everyone. i just thought some would like it.

What is the weather plugin you are using?

this gave me just a little more respect for the pointui Home utility. the words "Verizon Wireless" are too much text for their title bar to handle. when my phone was locked i couldn't see the time or battery indicator. replaced it with "VZW" and now it looks awesome. great job, awesome program. thanks much.

hey buddy, i re-wrote the app today. give the 2.0 version a try. some other users on the other sites are saying it is now working. altho the old version worked on the mogul.

anyhow this version is better than the other. it doesn't get over written by the carrier now at all when roaming or what not.

Weird. I installed it and it asked what I wanted instead of "Sprint PCS" but it never changes anything. I soft reset but still no dice.

edit: It works on the S2U2 screen but not on the Today/Home screen.

edit 2: now it sporadically works on both screens but it still flashes "sprint pcs" every so often.

it writes at 2 second loops, there will be times that you see it for just a second.

what are you using on the today/home screen to access carrier info?

HTC Home Customizer. Don't worry though, I just uninstalled it. It was a cool app but my home screen would stay "Sprint PCS" for hours before switching over to the altered one and then there and the S2U2 screen would constantly flash from Sprint to whatever I set it to.

Also does that kill the battery to keep writing to the file every 2 seconds or does it only do it when the phone is awake?

hmmm, sounds weird.

yes the app only runs when the phone is awake and you will not see any battery difference. battery is to important to ppc devices.

copy - fyi - v2 is giving me the registry errors sometimes on my mogul 6800 but orig version never did.

hmmmm. what do you mean by registry errors. it seems that the only complaints come from the mogul users. i would lie to fix this but without the phone to test on... it's hard. if someone can give me some better details... PM me.

Works fine on my XV6800. :) Occasionally it flashes Verizon Wireless instead of VZW but not for long.

yes, this is how it works. there is a battle going on for the carrier bar. everytime you go from 1x to evdo, in or out of roaming, end a call, softreset, on off flight mode, ect the carrier updates this info. my apps reads every 2 seconds and then rewrites it to what you want it.

in english.... yes you will see the carrier info but no longer than 2 seconds tops. and this is only if one of the above issues happened.

I've only tried this once so far, but I installed the app, and it doesn't place an icon in Programs or in Settings. Where is it supposed to be?

Had the same problem with version 3.0, no where to actually change the carrier name. Uninstalled and installed version 2.0, now it works fine.

Wow, that doesn't make any sense. Wonder why they made a useless version upgrade if you can't even use it.
