is it possible to have it save contacts to desktop like in active sync but in vista with the mobile device center...its totally different then the aboved steps...

Outlook is a most suckalishious monstrosity. after years of living contact hell (totally unrelated contacts being combined, mysteriously missing, doubled or trippled), on multiple pc's, i finally quit using outlook for syncing contacts. I now use a PIM Backup program (free). I alo heard great things about Plaxo.com. After several years of using their service, i purchased the pro account whiicb allows u to sync contacts over the air. It also syncs with your other email accounts, as you choose and set them up using a very simple interface.
it is such a painless process now to update, maintain and restore contacts with these two very dendable options. |

and by the way, he should be angry at him/her self, not his phone, because his Outlook was set to update the connected device from the pc. A simple step or two and he could have had the device update the desktop.
DOHHHHHH |
I just use Outlook... but once and a while I will export my contact list just to have a backup. I know there are 1,000 different programs for backing up, etc but I'd rather just do it the "manual" way...
"device update the desktop"... yup.. made sure mine was setup like that before I connected the Activesync Beast.... |

Yes, activesync sucks. I noticed it will delete contacts if you don't do things in the right order (and this order is certaintly not defined in the instructions!) what a horribly designed sync software. deleting, rather then copying when a new connection is made is somthing sync software should NEVER do (and, with careful programming, this is possible!) active sync = garbage did I mention activesync is also slow as shit and annoying as hell? /rant |
so is it possible to sync to desktop and save on desktop in vista like it is in xp? why did they have to totally rework active sync into wmdc and lose functionality
