Can't Install or Remove Anything

This is a new one to me. As of today, I am unable to install anything on my phone. I have plenty of memory. When I try to install anything...even things already on my phone, it gives me a prompt of "Installation of xapplication was unsuccessful." This comes up before I would normally be asked for an installation location (storage card, main memory, etc.).

When I go to remove programs, the program box is blank. I can still access and use all of the programs that I have installed, but nothing is listed as being installed. Even in Active Sync, it only lists the programs that I had previously installed through AS, and trying to uninstall with AS does nothing.

The last thing I was able to install today was FTouchFlo, but I don't know how that would've done anything like this.

Soft resets do nothing to improve the situation, and I'd really prefer to not hard reset if I don't have to because I stupidly haven't done a backup in a while. Any suggestions??

This is a known issue with FTouchFlo, I have been using the newest version and that has not happened to me yet (has happened to me with older versions), but I just installed it on someone else's phone today and it did that. Not sure what about that application causes this but the only recourse is a hard reset as far as I know. Always do a backup before Installing apps.
You can always read through all 76 pages of the [2007-10-25] FTouchFlo v.1.4.1 HOTFIX thread. Or you could ask eFrost (wrote program)
The only good thing is that the phone is fully functional, so you can back-up all your data.

...I was afraid of that. I normally do regular backups, I just for whatever reason hadn't done one recently. Thanks for the reply though. If anyone else has any solutions to this before I painfully press the 3 buttons of death, that would be appreciated. In the mean time, I'll probably dive into those 76 pages

I know this is probably a stupid question before I ask it, but if I do a backup in it's current state, will it come back to normal after a restore?

I am having almost the exact same problem, but am on week 2 and have been through alot, still no fix, am going to sprint tomorrow tho, here is my thread, maybe it will help u http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=14227
