Happy with eBay battery for Mogul

I recently bought a Mogul battery from this guy on eBay. I received the battery, and it really seems fine. The seller says it is the exact same battery that HTC/Sprint et al ship with the 6800, but labeled differently, ergo unofficial OEM. Seems legit to me. The guy has perfect feedback going back a long way. The battery was about $20 shipped. Shipping was quite fast -- from N.Y., not freakin' Hong Kong. I have no affiliation with this seller. I just like to pass along a good word like this when I think it's appropriate.

... Now if only I could figure out how that seller gets away with hosing eBay on the price/shipping ratio like that.

From my past experience on the aftermarket battery (mostly made in china) they all worked very well at first few month (i'll say 6 months). After that, u will see the battery life drop sharply. I also heard ppl said that aftermarket battery will explode if over heat (never happen to me, thx god.).
But with that price, it is good for backup battery

Sellers are allowed to set the price as they see fit. Ebay has an non-specific rule that basically says sellers shouldn't set the shipping rate unreasonably. However its not really enforced unless its reported.

As for myself I never look at the shipping as separate from the price when shopping on ebay. I just look at the total cost involved and choose based on that.

By coincidence, it looks like the eBay seller posed as a buyer of his own products and "recommended" these batteries and other products in threads at XDA Developers. If so, that is totally not cool.

It's too bad. This battery seems fine, and I was planning to maybe buy more stuff from that guy, but not now. It's a matter of principle.

They do that because you get charged selling fees only on the items cost not on the shipping too... So its a workaround to reduce ebay fees...

I think the OP knows that, which is why he mentioned wondering how he gets away with hosing eBay like that. The question is how eBay doesn't crack down on it, now why the seller does it.
