Well, thanks for all the replies. I ended up doing a hard reset before I got the advice about holding it under a lamp. Via the HTC site I learned about being able to do the hard reset by holding the left and right soft keys down with the device powered off and pressing the soft reset button. This appears to do a hard reset that's somewhat different from the "clear storage" in that it goes all the way back to having to install the Alltel customizations. Never saw that after doing the "clear storage" option before.
Anyway, a very scary situation was resolved. What in the world would have caused this? It's not the first time I've installed the HTC.Kaizer.Home.Plugin.with.Tabsetting.schen plug-in. This is my 4th 6800 in the past 5 weeks. I've gotten total lemons so far. But it was very weird to have that happen last night to say the least. Of course it has to happen at 2am when I was getting to ready to crash!! Arg!!!!!! I'll have to figure it out though because I really like that plug-in. Oh well, again, thanks a lot for the replies!
