Yes, I have a question. Why? The Titan keyboard too convenient? The cube too tempting?

how fast can you type on the on screen keyboard. I know its not as sensitive as the iphone keyboard and i have enough trouble as it is typing on that even with its great predictive text.

not as fast as I can on the pcmkeyboard.. Try this on your mogul and you'll see - http://pocketcm.com/keyboard2.php - I started using that exclusively as opposed to the hardware keyboard (becuase I didn't like the lag in pulling out the hardware keyboard..)

I just kept using it on the Touch.

Why the switch? two main reasons -

1) Bluetooth. I was really tired of waiting for it to work right
2) memory. That device really needed another 32/64mb memory to start with..

The touch is great with both of these...

Not the same though:( One of my bedtime routines is to use Newsbreak ( http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/nw/newsbreak.php ) to catch up on my RSS feeds.. Completely one-handed on the Mogul. On the touch, I can still do it one handed, but keep having to shift my hand...

1. How is the lag when you hit Reply for an e-mail or SMS? My Mogul takes forever to do this.
2. How are the IM programs? I will be using them a lot.
3. How does the 20-key compare to TouchPal? (I like TouchPal, but think it could be better.)
4. Is SprintTV good on it? I'm unimpressed with it on the Mogul.
5. How long did it take you to get used to the on-screen keyboard?

1. In my experience the lag was mainly from switching to landscape to pull out the keyboard. it's fairly instant to reply on this.. (1-2 seconds?)
2. It comes with OZ Messenger which looks pretty decent, but it doesn't support Google chat - so I'm not using it for now.. It has a big warning at the beginning saying that you would need a data plan as well as a "messaging" plan - not sure what that is and sprint didn't when I called either..
3. I haven't used touchpal - but the 20key on here allows for abc input (i.e. as key - press once for a, twice for s), or t9 similar input (i.e. press ui as for 'is' ) - seems to work pretty well.. and it makes it so that you can type fast even in the abc input (as the delay before recognizing the key is very short..) I still prefer pcmkeyboard though as I'm personally faster on it.
4. bleh.. it's ok.. I'm using slingmobile so no reason for it.. I did a quick test w/ cnn though and it was fast enough.. (took ~5 seconds to start the picture and picture was 'ok' - nothing to write home about..)
5. I started getting used to pcmkeyboard last week in anticipation of getting the touch this week - sticking to it.. so far, so good and I don't really miss the hardware keyboard that much.

I imagine typing on the screen on the touch is a lot easier than typing on the screen on the Mogul, too, because of the lack of the outside screen bezel?

Also, just an opinion, I've always hated how the screen is "set in" in the Mogul, as I always get junk between the screen and the plastic cover, and it's irritating. I can't wait to have the screen flush with the device. :)

It does help.. The area that it helps the most actually is in using the scroll bars... I've heard others say that it may cause the screen to crack more easily - but with sprint's insurance, who cares...

Two questions...

1) Does the touch have a landscape mode? Hows it work?

2) Internet sharing? Works? Doesnt Work? Do you have to use an app like PDAnet or USBModem?

Do you ultimately feel like the switch was worth it. Ive noticed since I started paying attention that I dont use the Hard Keyboard as much as I thought I did and Im starting to think I could live without it.. but I do do messaging/internet (who doesnt). Im going to try PCMKeyboard today.

I'd also like to know about tethering.

Also one other question - the tilt has an issue with reassigning some of the hard buttons - how many hard buttons does it have and can you reassign them?

Thank

Yes it does.. it works fine.. some apps (such as the sprint tv and picture viewer) automaticlaly switch to landscape.. You can also change manually by using any number of landscape switch programs out there.. (personally I use SPB Mobile shell to do this..) - the joystick rotates with you btw...

I haven't tried internet sharing yet - I do have PDANet so will give this a try later.. I would imagine it would work just fine though. I will write back on this.

I would love to have a Mogul w/ 128mb memory, but that's not to bad had:( I think the HTC Touch is a great phone and don't regret switching from the mogul so far.. The biggest things I miss about the Mogul -
1) OK key next to the joystick:)
2) flash on the back
3) wifi - although I don't use that in the states, I tended to use it quite a bit when traveling over seas..
