4 Attachment(s)
Whats crackin' guys,

After some hard time searching for a fully working HTC CommManager for the 6800, i found nothing. More than often with useless button and non-working WLAN.

i decided to port it to the mogul http://forum.xda-developers.com/imag...lies/smile.gif

This is an 8 button fully working CommManager with

1. Flight Mode
2. Phone
3. BlueTooth
4. WLAN
5. Beam
6. ActiveSync
7. Ringer
8. Internet Sharing

All HTC skin that i found in this and other forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/imag...lies/smile.gif

1. HTC Window Media Player Skin
2. HTC Calculator Skin
3. HTC Wait Animation Skin
4. HTC Action Screen

ALL TESTED WORKING on the 6800 Mogul!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/imag...lies/smile.gif

PLEASE POST WHAT YOU THINK OR ANY COMMENTS/ADVICE ON WHAT TO CHANGE!!!

SonOfChrist 11-05-2007 11:50 PM

krohnjw 11-06-2007 12:02 AM

Looks good - giving it a shot.

Mr Crunk 11-06-2007 12:13 AM

thanks, look forward to installing

The following is the best Comm Manager I've found for the Mogul, it's a 10 button version based on a Kaiser ROM.

Make sure the old Comm Manager is not running before installing the new one.

1.) Download it from the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320239
And unzip/install it.

2.) Go the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=320239&page=7
and download the "Portrait Volume PNGs for 10-button Comm Mgr.zip" attached in the last post in that thread page (post by luv2chill). Unzip the file contents to the \Windows folder on the Mogul. They are some volume related graphics missing from the comm manager.

3.) Finally, after installing the comm manager, and soft reseting your device, use a registry editor, and go to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\WLAN

Edit the DeviceName String value, and change the device identifier at end of the existing string value (should start with a letter "T") to TNETW12511. This should allow the WiFi button in the Comm manager to properly turn on and off the Mogul's WiFi radio.

Nevermind. I just figured out that if you leave the hardware Wifi switch in the "ON" position, then you can properly turn off/on the wifi radio in the comm manager! Thank you so much for the fix!

its koo theme... some of them dont work as well as hoped

the phone didn't allow me to install the 8 button command manager because it didn't have "permission" now i think i know how to find out how to disable this to allow me to install... but i wont bother. now i was able to install all the other skins... which i like so far... but the windows media player skin doesn't seem to play nice cuz i wasn't able to update my library after installing... maybe it will work after a few resets.... and so far its not letting me change the skin with the skin options, so i sapose if i wanted to change back to the original skin i would have to uninstall... also.... i don't have any idea how access the htc action screen

edit: its in your "programs" folder. its titled "HTCActionScreen" its icon looks like a running program window. mybad... i was tired yesterday i was working the election lol

Sun1914 11-06-2007 11:46 AM

Having a bit of trouble....

Same here...I wasnt able to install some of the themes...the only one that was successful without an trouble was the WMP skin...no cursor...no calculator...no Comm...any suggestions?

Intersting - All installed fine for me.

Calc - works fine.
WMP - works....updated library fine and plays without issue. All player functions appear to work.

COMM Manager - The wifi button does not work even with the hardware switch on it seems. Other than that it seems fine.

gxnext 11-06-2007 12:18 PM

im really curious about this htc action screen, how do you access it?

edit: again... mybad lol i was tired. its in your "programs" folder. its titled "HTCActionScreen" its icon looks like a running program window.

dmackdaddy 11-06-2007 12:38 PM

Nice, thanks!!!

the HTC Wait Animation Skin will only work (at least on OEM ROM 2.16) if you have unlocked it using something like SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe

well.. i have the same rom and it installed fine for me. never used any unlock software, but i did have a permission issue with 8 button command. i installed the 10 nsted... which i had b4 but felt it was noticeably slower. this one seems to take a few secs on its first load. also i asked about the htc action screen... well i found it under programs... im not sure how ill implement it into a useful shortcut yet...

wandrerx 11-06-2007 02:07 PM

weird... maybe there is something I have that caused it not to show correctly that was fixed by the unlock...

wickedklown 11-06-2007 02:47 PM

Got all 4 skins working, though I dont really care for the wmp one, thanks!

the only unlocker that ive used is the unlockphonehack posted on this forum under regedits. Did it affect it? :dontknow: had it preload it.

wandrerx 11-06-2007 02:55 PM

Ah... I never used that hack, that may be it.

Anyone else not able to use the "IR Beam" button? It does not turn beam on or off for me and alway shows off. Neither the 8 or the 10 button version.

I did this and it didn't seem to work. Can someone tell me the original ending of the string that begins with "T" because I would like to change it back to normal. Thanks!

Also, anyone notice the 8 button doesn't work in Landscape? There are no images for it to load. I would not install the 8 button version.

I have recreated the 10 button .cab with the IR graphics from the 8 button (along with the landscape versions of the button). I have included the registry fix for the Wifi. I just need someone to confirm or deny the status of the IR button before I post it. Anyone? Does the IR button work for ya?

On the Mogul the original value is TNETW12511

The 10 button manager above changes it to a different device name that is not compatible with the Mogul, hence the need to change this key after installing the 10 button dialer.

stroths 11-06-2007 10:14 PM

For all those trying to install and getting permission issues, you must make sure you do not have your existing comm manager running in the background. If you do the new one will not install.

specv 11-06-2007 10:16 PM

the screen shot of the skins, is that from a touch. i really like the title bar on it

robisonjon2891 11-06-2007 10:50 PM

i installed all the skins and i couyld not get the wmp skin to work i reinstalled it about ten times and restarted it about the same do you have any ideas

nerdstrap 11-06-2007 11:10 PM

Installing the WM skin isn't enough. You have to actually choose it in the options screen for WM It scans your PPC for skins and lets you choose one.

huynhc 11-06-2007 11:32 PM

is it me or does the 10 button comm manager have a slight mem problem? it seems to be eating 2mb after i open and close it. My RAM goes from 19-20 to 17-18.

focusedlife 11-06-2007 11:41 PM

Action Screen is awesome, makes my left soft key just a little more effective Thanks

Paul_Hammons 11-06-2007 11:57 PM

Anyone try the "IR" or Beam button yet? Does it turn your IR on and off. Mine just constantly says off, no matter what its actual state it.
-Paul

TalynOne 11-07-2007 12:33 AM

I could test for you, but I don't know what I'm looking for, how do I check IR status? I never use the IR port for anything. I used to use it as a TV/VCR/etc.. remote control on my older PocketPCs, but no remote control apps currently work with the Mogul.

Edit: I just tested, it works fine, I'm using the 10 button version. The graphics on the COMM manager change correctly to show status and the "Beam" applet in Start->Settings->Connections tab, gets checked and unchecked for the "Receive all incoming beams." setting in response to the Comm manager button presses.

Using HTC Mogul running stock v2.08 WM6 ROM.

Paul_Hammons 11-07-2007 12:55 AM

TalynOne,
Thanks for the test. I have tried both the 10 button and the 8 button and the IR button tries to enable IR, but always shows off and doesn't change the check box.

I am using the new 2.16 rom.

Further research needed......

I've attached a .reg file (inside the attached .zip file) that has the proper value for the Mogul. Just import it into your registry.

its in your "programs" folder. its titled "HTCActionScreen" its icon looks like a running program window. I know for some reason yesterday I didn't think about it installing directly into the "programs" folder... I guess its because all the other skins directly affected another program, while this was a new program all together. anyway the only way to benefit from using htc action screen is to assigned it to a shortcut.... maybe a button shortcut or a todayscreen shortcut... The HTC Action Screen is just a HTC Touch inspired shortcut screen from what I can tell.. it just has quick shortcuts to send a email, sms, add appointment, add task, add note, or add a contact. so the benifit is instead of making a shortcut for just one of these features you can use this handydandy htc action screen to quickly access any of these. personally... I don't think I'll ever really use its features because I'm so used to accessing these files another way... but I'll keep it just to go along with this "touch" theme I'm so into..

darktiger 11-07-2007 11:59 AM

Does the 8buttom version affect the memory like the 10button version?

Moekind 11-20-2007 04:29 AM

8 button is much better on the memory

and if u want wlan to work with it
go to the registry htc/commmanager/wlan/

and in device name

after the last \ remove everything
it should start with c something

and change it to TNETW12511

wavezero 12-11-2007 02:14 PM

If you are using windows live for your email accounts DO NOT INSTALL the 10 buton one!!! The 10 button includes a "Microsoft push-email" button that will cause windows live to not be able to sync to the server. I spent an hour on the phone with tech support and emailed MS and the only thing I could do to get it back was a hard reset. I've installed the 8 button and every thing is fine.

lalord69 12-18-2007 11:06 PM

any possibilities to make this yellow? in order to match sprints? thanks in advance...
