Sprint agreed to swap my Mogul for a Touch

I sent Sprint an email last night asking to return my Mogul because of unacceptable BT performance, and said I'd consider a swap for a Touch. (I've had the Mogul since July)

Just got a response from Sprint - they agreed to swap!

I'd have to pay any price difference (which is fine - I basically paid full price for the Mogul). They asked me to respond within 3-5 days, then they'll order me a Touch and send a return kit for the Mogul.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Factors in my decision:

- I'm not convinced that Sprint & HTC can fix the Mogul BT; I still suspect a basic HW flaw (some work, some don't; seems like thin design margins)
- I AM convinced that the Mogul will never have more memory :=)
- I'd miss the Mogul keyboard, but I really don't do much SMS and email from it anyway
- I suspect the Touch will have more penetration in the market (yes, I know, business versus consumer focus); therefore more support
- I think the Touch may have more hacker support long term
- I'm ready for a new toy!

Anyway, I need to see and play with the Touch tomorrow the 4th in a store. I suspect I'll love the form factor. Assuming the soft keyboard is usable, and BT works (I'll take my favorite headset), I'll most likely go with the Touch.

I think that since I paid full price for the Mogul, it'll be a moot point wrt price. But you bring up a good point - I'll ask them to verify that I'll not end up owing them anything. In fact, I may ask them to refund any difference if the Touch is lower than my original Mogul (I suspect that's the case).

Thanks for the feedback - glad someone else is getting a swap, and that Sprint is listening to their customers on this issue.

I really really want a touch, but I need the physical keyboard. :(

I do too many e-mails on my phone (for work) and too many text messages to switch to a touch-only interface.

What is the e-mail address you guys are using?

I thought about the touch, but the lack of physical keyboard is one issue. The other is that the onscreen keyboard will take up screen real estate which would be a pita. I'll play with one at a store though as I am curious.

I agree. I really cant imagine using the phone for text and email without a physical keyboard. That is the main thing holding me back. I would switch to a Treo 800 if they were out.

The mogul is ideal if it only WORKED. I would be more than happy if it just functioned normally and had GPS. I dont have issues with the amount of memory (when its not leaking). It's just sad that this phone has been handled so badly. Sprint/hTC really dropped the ball on this one.

Yep, that's my beef too. I don't use BT so the phone works just fine for me. I haven't run into this memory issue everyone talks about too, usually have anywhere from 15-22 meg free depending on what is running.

If this phone didn't have a keyboard I wouldn't have bought it.
