I installed it like this:

1 - Installed Sprint 2.16 ROM
2 - Installed Unlocker
3 - On reboot the phone was stuck in the bootloader
4 - Installed 1.40 radio while on the bootloader screen

Your phone is basically wiped of all programs/settings/files back to the default 2.16 ROM state (it runs the Sprint extended config all over again, etc).

Works great so far. This fixed the lock ups I was getting when changing my Today themes and items on the stock 2.16 ROM.

symfonikz 11-02-2007 05:30 AM

i flashed the 1.40 radio a few hours ago, and reinstalled my programs/themes...no problems so far (outside of the usual RAM leak...meh...)...I'll be back with updates later...hopefully I can go a full day without a hard reset.

oh my frustration sets in

This is so frustrating.

"On reboot the phone was stuck in the bootloader"

all of the instruction require an error to work. LOL!

Mine doesn't get stuck. Now what? no instruction to update radio to 1.40

I don't understand what the problem is. I will assume you have 2.16 installed with the 1.47 Radio. If you don't you can flash the official Sprint package or you can use the 2.16 OS only nbh and the Rom Update Utility.

Place the radio nbh into a folder with the Rom Update Utility.
Activesync
Launch RUU
Click through to upgrade the radio.

You don't need any sort of error to accomplish this.....

If you don't have 2.16 on the phone then follow the same process as above with the 2.16 OS Only nbh if you want 2.16.

I've flashed several times and have yet to get stuck in the boot loader.

christak 11-02-2007 01:27 PM

There is an "error" in the message that you get during the unlock -- it says unplug and re-plug USB cable and to "re-establish Activesync" connection -- The Activesync connection does "not" get re-established (and doesn't have to be re-established) -- Just press on with the unlock after plugging the USB cable back in and all will work fine...

thats what I did..now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping I dont get those stupid lock up issues

idiotekniQues 11-02-2007 11:12 PM

my phone doesnt lock up anymore, but my bt is still fritzy with connecting disconnecting.

christak 11-03-2007 12:17 AM

Same here (though I don't currently use BT)... My phone has done very well with the 2.16/1.40 combination... I have traveled today through good signal, poor signal, 1x, evdo, no data, roaming, and Sprint areas - the phone has performed properly -- no lock up's or issues. I'll be doing more of this tomorrow - hoping for more of the same. ;-)

symfonikz 11-03-2007 03:15 AM

i dunno what my problem is...i had crazy issues earlier today, to the point where I never recovered signal (after getting on/off the subway), and my phone never went into roaming...i had to do a hard reset just to get it to get a signal again.

I flashed the original 2.09 ROM when i got home, and then bumped the radio up to 1.40...

hopefully this works.

freeza 11-03-2007 03:59 AM

2.16/1.40 seems to be working fine here also.

An odd occurance.....
vibrate stopped working for a while and not even a soft reset fixed it. then it randomly started working again LOL.

Also, the cool sprint animation that happens upon booting, no longer shows at all on my mogul.

rijc99 11-03-2007 04:21 PM

I ran my phone with ROM 2.16 and Radio 1.40. Everything was ok for a while but all of the sudden, my phone locked up on me today.

Going back to ROM 2.09. I missed a few important calls today and pissed off a few important people. (My wife included).

Oh well, I guess I'll wait until next year for the fix.

Chasjr_72 11-03-2007 07:34 PM

I'm trying to download titan_1.40_radio from the FTP but it is not letting me????

christak 11-04-2007 02:48 AM

For what it's worth, 2.16/1.40 still working fine -- no issues to report after about 3 days with it... Just returned home from a 2-day trip that included considerable roaming and repeated switches to/from evdo and 1x with good in poor signal strength areas...

Thanks!

Get it here:
ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@ftp.ppcgeeks...nt_2.16_OS.nbh

I have tried this with both the 1.40 radio and the 1.32 radio and it seems to resolve any lockup issues. I have run both setups for several days with no issues.

I run mNotes and voice command primarily.

Thanks for your efforts ImCokeMaN.

2.16 & 1.40 radio did not work out for me,BT still connects & disconnects like crazy on me.I went back to 2.09 & 1.40,that seems the best combiantion for me thus far,no disconnect on BT and no choppy sound on the other end when i use BT to make calls.

My observation re: sprint 2.16 and radio 1.4 -

My bluetooth keeps shutting off.. so it realy sucks in that aspect..

BUT if I just pretend like the phone doesn't have bluetooth and leave it off, my battery life is fantastic! Much better then 2.09's ever was.. (all day usage, down to ~70-80%??? I'd normally be down to 10-20% after a full day..)

I don't use bluetooth on my Mogul, though I used it quite a bit with my old Nokia... So, my reports regarding 2.16/1.40 do not take into account bluetooth at all... Having said that, 2.16/1.40 seems pretty solid otherwise and I agree that the battery life has vastly improved over the previous ROM... I'm satisfied with my Mogul in this state, at least until a "rev. a update" comes out...

I too noticed the battery life is pretty amazing in 2.16... I have used 2.08 2.09 and 2.14 alltel rom and they were all pretty equivilent but 2.16 was amazing on battery usage - literally the same 70-80 instead of 10-20.... I wonder why...

diomark 11-04-2007 01:24 PM

My guess would be - they're shutting off the dpad when you're not using it:) (hince the dpad doesn't wakeup bug w/ the 1.47 radio..)

report from using 2.16 rom with 1.40 radio (a week of usage):

I don't use bluetooth, so can't comment on that..no lock ups at all..which means i can still play with my phone on the subway :)

and the alarm function works..which is why I upgraded to 2.16 in the first place

EtherealRemnant 11-08-2007 02:35 AM

Okay... so comparison between 2.09 with 1.32 radio... how is this ROM? Better overall? I don't care about bluetooth... but I've finally got this thing set back up how I want it after falling back to WM5... I don't want to go through it all over again.

TeamMike 11-17-2007 07:34 PM

does anybody know where i can get the radio 1.40? i went to the ftp site (/Titan/Users/dcd/) and it was gone :( or if anyone has can you send it to me; or post it so that everyone can get?
