I was about to post a similar thread - I did on PDAPhone home. People are reporting various things - BT shuts off on their phone - like it would when power is low. Others are saying they just stop having connectivity between the two and have to reset the phone to re-establish connectivity.

codyppc 10-24-2007 05:07 PM

great. just when i was getting excited.

maybe we should get the calls going to sprint/htc.

their good old beta testers were asleep on the job agian. or are we still the beta testers. lol

veronicamays 10-24-2007 05:14 PM

Yeah, I noticed that too, I thought I had turned it off.

JNILSEN21871 10-24-2007 06:11 PM

well after the rom update my bt sound is still only a lil better than subpar and i also notice that when i hit the power button to hibernate the phone when i press the button to wake it up it is unresponsive and i have to soft reset, also it seems like the memory leak is gone but the price for that is once again the mogul becomes unresponsive and i have to soft reset, in just 18 hours i have had to soft reset 8 times and it also seems that when you first turn on the phone it seems like it takes a few extra mins for the radio to aquire a signal, while with the 2.09 rom as soon as your screen booted up BAMM you had a signal.

Pitchblack98 10-24-2007 06:41 PM

My bluetooth is turning itself off also ever since I did the update last night.

My mogul will also freeze if I have my headset connected and I hit the button to put the phone to sleep. It won't wake back up when I hit the button again. I have to soft reset to get it back. If my bluetooth is turned off I can put it to sleep and wake it back up over and over again with no problems. It only happens when bluetooth is turned on. Figures...

My Mogul is also only a week old. I ditched my treo 700wx because of bluetooth problems for the mogul and the moguls problems are even worse. Looks like its about time to move on over to GSM or another carrier. I've been with Nextel and now Sprint for almost 8 years now and their phones and service has gone down hill fast with no brakes.

EDIT: by the way... I never tried my bluetooth before the rom update, so I don't know how well it worked before with the older rom. I just hadn't gotten around to setting up that part of my phone yet.

dcd 10-24-2007 07:44 PM

maybe a little off topic, but does anyone know BT status of the telus rom? maybe at this point we need to locate the best of all available BT drivers and use them.

mikee4fun 10-24-2007 10:37 PM

Phone locks up when switching between Edvo and 1x and bluetooth turns off randomly. The bluetooth part is what kills me. It was a cronic issue with my 6700's I had.

This is one of the principal reasons I switched to the 6800 - I can't believe this nonsense. My confidence in HTC products is diminishing quickly.

hippity.hoppity 10-25-2007 12:01 AM

HTC just churns out garbage. Who do you think the morons were who "tested" this software update before releasing it? BT sounds a bit better but shuts itself off, D-Pad doesn't work any longer and BT causes the phone to lock up when put to sleep. UGH!

drurc8 10-25-2007 12:47 AM

Sprint and HTC should correct the bluetooth shut-off problem sooner. Does Sprint or HTC have any smart engineer to test their new 10/23/2007 rom? This is ridiculous that they still cannot fix bluetooth problem. Bluetooth shuts off itself every hour.

miediev 10-25-2007 12:48 AM

yep, this happened to me most of the day after the rom update.

we just trade one problem for another. htc/sprint ftmfl

i swear a class action lawsuit is just "X" amount of time away.

drurc8 10-25-2007 01:08 AM

Samething here, bluetooth shuts off itself every 30 minutes or less now. This is UNFORGIVABLE!!!!!!

diomark 10-25-2007 03:58 PM

so..NO solutions yet???
:(

stacia52 10-25-2007 05:08 PM

I updated last night, and since then my BT shuts off pretty consistantly about every 15 minutes. I was slightly disappointed initially that the BT "fix" didn't fix the previous sound quality issues, but now I've moved on to pissed off that it actually got worse where I can't even maintain the connection anymore.

hippity.hoppity 10-25-2007 08:19 PM

Just keep swapping them out at Sprint. The Mogul is already on a silent recall.

drurc8 10-25-2007 08:25 PM

I have the same problem and I contacted Sprint about the bluetooth shut-off problem and Sprint was not aware of any rom update. Honestly, Sprint is clueless about their product and I was recommended to call HTC. I lose right now, who should we address the problem to????

drurc8 10-25-2007 08:28 PM

Can any smart person here find the solution for Mogul bluetooth shut-off problem? It looks like the new rom update is a waste because we cannot use bluetooth. It keeps shuting off.

Sonny486 10-25-2007 08:38 PM

Try setting the following and let me know if it works..

\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \Suspend

Change Default to 2.

SoftReset.

See if that helps any of you, if it does, I think there is a way to keep bluetooth on D2 using a different string.

edit:

Change Default back to 3 and add the following:

dword: btl1:=1

to the following keys:

\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \Suspend
\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \Resuming
\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \UserIdle

Try this one and let me know.

I am trying right now and let you know asap. Thank and I appreciate your help.

boe 10-25-2007 08:53 PM

Call HTC 866-449-8358 and Sprint 1-800-927-2199. I did reformat my phone and leave it completely vanilla - not a single additional piece of software on it - lost connectivity 5 times within a few hours - charged to 80% not a memory issue as I ran no additional software, not a power issue -not a headset issue - tested with other phones no issue.

LoL funny comment since my sister just spent 5min arguing with the Sprint customer service rep because the rep claimed there was no such thing as a SERO or unlimited text program. Went up to the manager level.

I doubt it.. I have 100% reproducible ways to make the BT fail..

pair it up w/ my headset (jawbone)

(outgoing calls are fine.. but after hanging up (and sometimes while talking), BT disconnects/turns off

call my cellphone..
try to answer on BT - won't work..
notice that phone is unresponsive
notice that BT turns off/phone is again responsive..

(all while plugged into usb cable w/o going to sleep..)

Sonny486 10-25-2007 09:31 PM

Note: UserIdle may also be causing your problem b/c Bluetooth going into D2 state. (Not sleep mode but UserIdle) Try the second set and let me know.

Trying that now.......

freeza 10-25-2007 09:42 PM

didn't help, nice try though.

I wonder if someone can get a registry comparison from the old rom to the new one and see if any values in the bluetooth department changed.

diomark 10-25-2007 09:43 PM

same behavior:( didn't work:(

Already checked that. Must be a bluetooth driver problem. BTW Microsoft also stated that the VoiceCommand problem has to do with the way HTC wrote the driver.

Still looking at the Bluetooth problem.

Try all, but no luck. Hoping that someone would write program to keep bluetooth stay on.

DonC 10-25-2007 10:37 PM

I had luck keeping the BT on by updating the profiles in SPB phone suite to allow BT to power on during which ever profile I was currently in. I am going back back to the old rom since loosing the dpad is a deal killer for me. I have already tried using the updated rom with the old radio but I was still seeing the dpad failures.

What happens to you d-pad. I am using the big button dialer and I have had no issues with it.

The alarm actually works now with the new rom, and if we can band-aid the bluetooth issue until someone can fix it, I think this would work well.

Sonny486 10-25-2007 11:25 PM

To make sure I was clear, set the following registrys:

\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \Suspend
add dword:
btl1: = 0

\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \Resuming
add dword:
btl1: = 0

\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State \UserIdle
add dword:
btl1: = 0

Softreset when done.

This keeps bluetooth from changing power states from suspend, useridle, and resuming. I know this probably will drain the battery more, but it is a stop-gap measure until the driver gets fixed.

Works for me so far.

What about the btl1: that is already in those (at least one of those)? Do you add another btl1: with the 0 value?

Sonny,
Same issue as many have seen and I am also using the new dialer. Enable BT and the dpad will stop working. Disable the BT and it works fine. I have done this with out doing a soft reset. I have been playing around with the reg edits you have posted. Thanks for looking into them.

freeza 10-25-2007 11:38 PM

preliminary tests may show that this tweak corrects the D-Pad screw up, i'm not entirely sure though, still testing.

Do you have any voice-dial entries on your phone?

unfortunately not, sonny.

sorry!
