Does the 1.50 rom support 6GB storage card out of the box like 2.16? If so, is this via the 2.16 driver or the 777 hack? I think the 2.16 driver might be better because I heard that the 777 hack was not recommended to install if you did not have a >2GB card, but the 2.16 driver was designed to be shipped with new phones with the 512mb card.

When I install this ROM, will there be a step where it downloads Sprint updates on the first boot, which I need to soft reset to prevent? If so, should I soft reset? If I do, will I need to download any seperate fixes for the Sprint updates that fix stuff like volume norms, or are they included? I read about these issues in the ROM update thread, but I am not sure which apply to this custom ROM.

Also, I am guessing I still cannot install this ROM in Vista without hacking my drivers, although the official 2.16 update installed fine through Vista. I have other computers with XP around which seems better than messing with drivers on my machine.

Also, no solution on putting internet sharing in the clean rom or as a seperate download yet? And if it was in there, is it something Sprint charges for where I would need to read up on lots of hacks before using it, beyond this ROM itself?

Is the custom ROM supposed to conserve RAM, or conserve ROM? It seems like one is in short supply and the other is overly abundant. So, I would think it would make most sense to remove things for making the clean rom that consume ram, or that the user might want to update, and to not get stuck in the 6700 ROM-starved mentality. If OS components like VOIP and Internet Sharing cannot be added seperately from the OS and dont consume RAM when they are not being executed, I think they should be left in. If things like solitaire would be a pain to reinstall one by one, are unlikely to get updates, and only consume 20-50k of ROM, I think they should be left in. Something like HTC Homeplug, which has a bunch of versions and is constantly updated, and has many alternatives, is another thing entirely. Its cab takes just seconds to install, so one would hardly need it in a ROM unless they like to hard reset very often.

Also, maybe it would be possible to list links to the common added cabs all in one place in the first post rather than scattered throughout 40 pages. In general it would be nice if there was one thread somewhere with links to the current versions of all popular addons. If it was easier to find all the latest cabs, people wouldn't need a custom rom as much.

Hi mcoope3,

I was unaware of the sd driver changes at 2.16 and will look into including that driver.
The sprint updates at first boot you refer to is the extended rom, and this will not load it.
You will not need anything from it to be installed unless you wish.
I am really not sure about Vista, I only use XP.
Internet Sharing will be included in the clean rom later today.

The custom rom isnt supposed to conserve ROM or RAM, its just the same base with some apps thrown in it. It will surely change soon as I hate HTC Home and included it because I thought others would want to use it, but every version ive tested of HTC Home leaks memory.

I will try to list some cabs in post 1.

Solitaire simply does not fit the scope of my project. It will not be included.
I do agree with you about things like HTC Home being updated, and I am looking into including the customizer instead of the program.

I am also looking into tierautoinstall for the custom rom as someone else had requested earlier.

As for java, I do not use it, and before I could include it (or link a cab) I would need to test the different flavors available.

The phone not waking up is a result of the XIP and theres not alot I can do about it at this point, but its being worked on.

This rom is absolutely flawless except for:

-CleanTemp (www.mobile-sg.com) doesn't seem to work at all.

Other than that, I have 0 issues.

Could internet sharing be a cab at all? I have this running perfect and don't want to reinstall :(

Also, what reg edits are you using to add the more options to the phone services, like NAM, and Mode Of Operation?

Thanks for your work on this dcd. Is this based off of the 2.09 ROM? because if it's based off of the 2.16 one, i have not had one single d-pad issue. I'm asking because on a soft-reset, it shows 2.16 as the rom, but this is running like a dream.

BEST ROM BY FAR!

(PS: where can i obtain solitaire.exe or something?)

I don't agree with including HTC Customizer either. It is even more frequently updated and it just takes a few seconds to install. But then again, maybe I should start looking for a replacement start plugin with a nice weather and time module.

What happened to the rapidshare download for 1.5.1 on the front page? Says it was deleted. Please repost. Thanks

mcoope3 11-10-2007 05:54 PM

Whats up with 1.51 clean? It's been removed from Rapidshare and ftp? Will this be a stable update or should I wait a week or so for more testing.

he's probably posting the new version with internet sharing, give it some time

dcd 11-10-2007 06:05 PM

really? well damn i dont know why, i didnt delete from rapidshare...
i am reuploading. it seems stable (and fast) to me.

mcoope3, 1.5.1 has the sd drivers from sprint 2.16. could you please test?

i also compared the OEMDrivers rgu's from 2.14 and 2.16. it seems the BT connect bitrate changed to 115200 in 2.16, so I did the same in my 1.5.1 rom, but i did not change any bt drivers. hopefully this will help with some of the bt issues anyways. it was set as some insanely high value before.

edit: i uploaded to rapidshare again, and my upload was immediately deleted again. 1.5.1 is on the ppcgeeks ftp for now until the retards over at rapidshare get their shit together.

freeza, i think you mean cleartemp? it works just fine for me?

zrobug 11-10-2007 09:22 PM

Hey DCD... First off, thanks for the great clean ROMS! They are really great!

I just loaded up 1.5.1 Clean BETA and it's 100% working including active sync with exchange. No BT devices for me to test however.

Great work! As far as I'm concerned for everything except for BT (since I was not able to test) it's in great shape.
