Stupid question, is it possible to get rid of certain Freqs? Like ones that never really get used? Or is that just the nature of the beast. Apps like CPU Spy so exactly where your CPU is doing business at, and so many just never get utilized..

Thanks for the updates. I have used your kernels since I got my Inc. at launch and I've been trying these out on my Thunderbolt. So far they have all worked great for me, except for the audio volume. I'm not sure what it is, but my ringtones and alerts are very low with the volume set at max. I tried setting the min CPU setting to 245 and still no dice. Any advice you could give would be cool! Thanks for the great work man!

Sure, I can get rid of freqs, which ones were you thinking about getting rid of?

I have no clue, mine is almost to loud. Which ROM are you running?

I am running BAMF 1.6, but I also pulled my nandroid of VirusROM and tried it on that too with the same results. The stock kernel with BAMF has great loud audio, but I see much better battery life and speed with your kernel. I'll have to keep playing with settings a bit and see if I can figure it out.

A few things.. first is it possible to have an app that you select the Freq the kernel goes to? Obiviously you can't have an app that changes the kernel itself. But a selection of what your CPU will go through(I know a pipe dream possibly. LOL)

okay onto the freq I believe may not be needed:

122, 184,192 for sure. Thunderbolt seems most stable at 245 as min.

Ones I never see the Bolt use:
883, 806, 960

Those would be a start. Now of course it can depend on what someone uses for min/max. But I have mine goign from 245 up to Max, but have seattle down to 1267. Gives a speed boost, with out messing with battery.

I'll throw my opinion in. I want to see the 122, 184, and 192 freqs kept on the kernel. I have one of the (maybe lucky few) 'Bolts that can handle this, and it has definitely been great in terms of battery and keeping the 'Bolt cool. My battery life has been through the roof lately on this kernel, so much so that I have actually moved back from my 2700 extended battery to the stock slim battery and get a full day plus, all while using 4G and my normal usage. I'm running the smartass governor.

As for the others, the only freqs that I see as having 0 time in use stats are 883 and 960, as mentioned above, so I'll leave it to Ziggy to determine if they're needed. I overclock to 1570 and have actually had better battery life than any other kernel I've tried, so of course, I'd like to see most, if not all, of the overclock freqs in. Full disclosure: I haven't used anything higher than 1570 for normal use, so I dunno how those are.

i agree with spyderman to keep the lower voltages as i run them on my device as well but i have a question on the new 5/2 kernel i just flashed. I see that this uses Koush's anykernel and i read up on it a little but i still don't fully understand. i got this from another forum:

updater-script runs and extract the boot.img from your current ROM.
It unpacks the boot.img into kernel and ramdisk.
It repacks newboot.img with the new kernel and the same ramdisk.
It flashes the newly created boot image.

i understand it is supposed to work for any rom. Does this also include AOSP roms(sorry if this is a stupid question)?

Don't worry about which freqs I'll keep, I'm going to keep them all, I'm working on making it so you can select the ones you want to turn off via sysfs.

Yes, it'll create and flash a boot.img just fine on an AOSP ROM, however, I don't have the required patches to the kernel to be fully functional.
