Turn Screen Off

Hello, everyone. I am sure you have all come across this problem, but i cannot seem to identify a clear solution to implement.

I would like to turn the screen off or put the phone to sleep without have to hold a button then click a screen button. has anytone come across an easy way to achieve this functionality?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Turn Screen Off

I am looking for the same. It would be great if we could implement the same one click screen off that the HD2 and Touch 2 has.

Re: Turn Screen Off

Try this: Hold down the RED Hangup/Power button. The phone doesn't actually turn off, just blanks screen. Gotta hold it like 5 secs.

Re: Turn Screen Off

What am I missing? When you press the red end call button for a few seconds, the selection screen shows up. Ignore it for 2 seconds and the phone goes to sleep. Seems pretty simple to me.

You don't have to press anything extra, but a 3 sec Hold on the end key and it will turn the screen off and lock it by itself.

Re: Turn Screen Off

Thanks for responding, everybody.

I am being lazy. I really don't want to have to hold a button and wait. I guess I will have to learn to deal with it. None of these devices are ever going to be perfect. at best they will be very kewl.

Re: Turn Screen Off

This forum has given me so much, so here's my chance to finally help someone else...
My solution is to use Changescreen app. Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466858

Changescreen has an option that turns off the screen when the phone is held upside down. It also allows rotation (landscape) in every screen, but if you don't want that you can turn off the landscape function in the properties. When I want to turn off my screen I just put my phone in my pocket upside down! Check it out, it works great for me!

Re: Turn Screen Off

Thanks to Edison for the solution, and thanks to Tec for starting this thread! I was thinking the same thing - I didn't like the 2-step, 5 second process to turn the screen off before I put it in my pocket. Installed this app yesterday - works great. Love it - thanks!

Re: Turn Screen Off

OK, the idea is good and teh app kind of works. However, I noticed one thing while I had it in my back pocket. the phone turned on. It would seem it turns off after the first hit of a button, but on the second hit it turns on (although in a dimmed mode). I am sure this will still drain my battery.

HAs anyone else tried it?
