Get rid the TV icon, for good

I used SKTools for this process. All you really need is a registry editor and something that can view the services. Or if you know how to disable services through the registry you can do that too. i did the following steps and did a soft reset and the TV icon was gone from the bar!

Step 1:
backup registry. SKtools have a backup option where you can do a full backup of the registy

Step 2:
Delete keys Launch95 and Depend95 from HKLM\Init folder in registry.
The launch95 key should reference an MFLO exe.

Step 3:
View services in SKtools and set the MFLO_RSSI service to Manual.
This references a MFLO_RSSI.dll

OR

Remove via registry editor
HKLM\Services\MFLORSSI
(Thanks Shemmy!)

Then Soft Reboot and its gone!

I didnt delete any files or services yet before i delete files ill have to make a backup.

The phone started at 50% ram and is creeping up to 60% without those memory improvement cabs for the TP2 installed.

I have yet to test the battery and memory usage over time.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

I removed the following:

HKLM\Init\Depend95
HKLM\Init\Launch95
HKLM\Services\MFLORSSI

End result is no tv icon!

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

Thanks shemmy, added that services to the first post!

hows your memory usage?

Shemmy 10-22-2009 06:32 PM

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

It creeped up from ~48% to ~58%, but has been holding steady there, more or less (I've run the other memory fixes).

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

I did it Shemmy's way, and no icon, but memory is the same. 50% with proxy hack (on reboot), same as before.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

thanks! worked good... i had already deleted launch95 and was looking at the dll mflo_rssi. guess i was on the right path but didn't put it together.

Thanks! Maybe I'll make up a .cab for everyone.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

I couldnt get it to delete the three keys, Using CERegistry,,Any ideas?

lafester 10-22-2009 10:40 PM

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

did you delete the key or just the value?
it doesn't let you leave the value blank however i used total commander to delete the keys from the device. when i used cereg i just put in a value of 0.

Shemmy 10-22-2009 10:47 PM

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

I delexted the keys using Resco Explorer. You can try PHM Registry Editor or Total Commander.

hey thanks man it worked for me too!

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

It seems like from what people are saying that if you have the Memory hack installed it makes no difference in ram usage.

I personally dont have it installed and by the end of the day mine is at 61% after using several apps like bing, radio, IE, etc.. which is 10-20% lower for me but ill still give it a few days to verify that.

As for batttery it was at 55% at the first post, now its only at 45% thats only 10% in 6 hours. This is good for me from when i first got the phone. but again ill still give it a few days to verify that to see if its consistent

Works using Total Commander.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

Followed the instructions, and the TV icon is gone. Also I went from booting with 70-80% free to 57% free!

I will let you know if there are any ill side effects.

EDIT- I deleted the entire registry key, it will not work if you just set a zero value. I used Total Commander.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

This brought my starting memory from 53% down to 50%. (I've already tried the two other memory fixes)

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

works great for me as well. I just deleted the key in registery.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

Went from 52% to 65%-68%. Whoa.... Now we just need to get a cleaning guide up to remove all the bloat. The reset before customization trick doesn't work with this HTC phone.

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

what version of TC do I use for my imagio? what .cab...I take it that the.cab installs to the device not the PC?

lafester 10-24-2009 11:38 AM

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

http://tcce.s3.amazonaws.com/ce3/tcmdpocketarm.cab

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

Anyone notice a performance difference? Not a percent of RAM numbers, but an actual difference in speed? I am suspect of some of these RAM fixes which are temporary and I never notice much of an true performance difference. The icon doesn't bother me so I don't want to bother unless there is a noticeable difference...

lafester 10-25-2009 08:54 PM

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

I have not noticed any performance gains from this.

But he installed the proxy cab tweak (SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy.cab), which is the biggest drop in memory usage of the few things discovered so far, I believe.

I got similar results after disabling push internet and the proxy fix. Do you have plans to remove the TV and see if you save even more memory?

ebayking90 10-29-2009 12:17 PM

Re: Get rid the TV icon, for good

Ok, I did the edit and along with the No Push internet and the proxy tweak I boot with 48% used. So it doesn't look like it made too much of a difference. It made my phone boot with about 2-5% more RAM. This is a minor improvement, but anything is welcome.

stock booted 60%, i did proxy booted at 49%, i did no push, still booted at 49%, i disabled tv, and still boots at 49%. the only thing that makes a difference in free memory, is the proxy hack.

That's what I figured, so I haven't bothered. I have already started to not notice it is even there.

Especially since there is no push internet on the phone and Opera isn't held open. The push Internet tweak is useless on the Imagio.
