Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Hmm, I don't understand, this cab works perfectly on my phone. It delets the 3 registry entries that I said in an earlier post. I can't figure out why this doesn't work on your phone. I have gone through the code and I have tested it again on my phone, and it works.
Sorry. |

EDIT: Decided to take a stab at the registry as the poster in 22 suggested and was successful getting rid of the icon. Nice having it gone. My first reg edit. Hope I didn't mess anything else up. Looks good tho. |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
I too tried the cabs and none of them worked. I did the reg edit and presto, the TV icon is gone from my home page. Thanks for all the efforts.

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Just installed the cab and it did not work. Thanks for trying. I also had the same problem with ceRegEditor
Can someone point me to the proper installation of total commander so I can complete the reg edit? Thanks! edit: It would appear that the app (TV) was stopped from loading though b/c upon soft reset my mem usage was down to 54%, the lowest I have seen on this phone yet! |

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Does the registry hack work with the modded taskbar from this thread?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=102583 I installed the cab but the tv icon is still there. |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
I answered my own question. YES. I used Total Commander to change "HKLM/Sevices/MFLORSSI" to "HKLM/Sevices/!MFLORSSI" and all is well.

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Has anyone noticed a battery improvement with this? That appeared to be some of the questions near the beginning of this thread. Currently mine has an x on it I haven't done anything to my phone. Does this mean the exe is not running for some reason?
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
I think the X on the TV icon means you haven't yet subscribed to the service.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
I have Total commander but I cant figure out how to get to the reg edit part of it. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
In Total Commander, click on the "\" next to the folder path display at the top of the screen. You should then see a folder called \\plugins, click that folder. Then there are three folders, ftp, LAN and registry. Open the registry folder and you will see HKCR, HKCU and HKLM. These are the registry folders. Browse through them until you get to the key you want to edit.

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
OK guys, I've definitely fixed the .cab in post #31. It definitely works now.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Thanks worked like a charm.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
I can verify that the Cab inpost #31 definitely works this time.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
i agree. i have not seen any ill effects yet.
Thanks |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Does the cab disable use of MediaFlo? I have the subscription. Will launching the "V CAST Mobile TV" still work? I'm interested in saving resources and removing the TV icon, but don't want to disable the service.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
It loaded on my phone. I don't have a subscription but it played the mobile tv preview.
It took quite a while to load up on the phone though but I'm not sure how long it takes for it to load to begin with. If you plan on using your phone to watch TV, I wouldn't remove the icon. |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Thanks.

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
The .CAB post #31 is working nicely. I downloaded then did a soft reset, and am now running without the TV icon that's been irking me.
|
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Glad that cab is working for you guys, it took me a few times to get it right. If you guys use it and it worked can you go back to post #31 and hit the "thank" button. I would appreciate it.

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
I know this is very very old and I'm sorry to bother you guys with this. But does anyone know if this cab JUST eliminates the icon? OR does it stop the program and save battery life???
I'm playing with my batt life right now and never disabled the TV to see how much better it would be (because I use it). I did this cab but you can still run the TV from programs. I'm looking for the fix that eliminates the TV and gives the batt savings along with it. I will give up my TV service if the Batt life is much better. (I installed this cab but haven't noticed any savings, maybe this isn't the fix i think) Sorry again, and yes is searched and searched J |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
It will save battery life, because it stops the service from running. It will only run if you actually open the app.

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
[QUOTE=nsa_sailor;1405201]Deletes the TV from task Bar by making it so it can't find the file, by adding something to the existing name:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\MFLORSSI] Key: DLL Value: !MFLO_RSSI.dll from http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=101162 (Add an exclamation point before MFLo_RSSI.dll in the DLL key....)[/QUOT Where do I go to add this exclamation point?? |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Use a registry editor to edit the text in the key. Just type in the exclamation point from the keyboard.
Do you know how to use a registry editor? Do you have one on your device? |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
No I don't. I just installed an Advanced Config cab that I used to changed my soft keys, But I dont have a regestry editor. Got a link handy and a minute for explaining it? Also...will that work to get rid of the black Verizon bar underneath the start bar?
Thanks |

Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
For a registry editor, I use Total Commander.
Total Commander - PocketPC Once you get it installed, then use the backslash button in the upper right corner to go to the root folder. There you should see three entries, ftp, LAN and registry. Click the registry and browse to the path below: [HKLM\Services\MFLORSSI] Click on the DLL key and it should say MFLO_RSSI.dll Change the entry by adding an exclamation point (or other character, it doesn't matter), then rebooting your phone (soft reset). The TV icon should be gone. But also heed memoriesuntold's advice. If you are not careful, you can mess up your device. But a Hard Reset will fix that (of course then you have reinstall & re-setup your device anew.) |

Do a search for MaxTTM, install it, then in the "Deploy Components" page, select Top Curtain from the drop down and change it to "TF3D V2.1 Full Transparent" There are some posts here that will remove the Verizon Wireless text and logo as well, but I don't remember where they are. Do a search. |
Re: how to remove TV icon from the notification bar?
Here's an older post that I've used to get rid of the TV Icon.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=90838&page=2 Every time I get a new replacement Imagio (I'm on number 5 now), I re-run this CAB as part of the set up process. |

As long as a hard reset will get me back to normal. I am on my 5th phone because of the button issue. So I can set it back up pretty quick. 5th phone but still I keep coming back...I do love this phone. Another thing...These cabs...and registry stuff.....Is it better to install it on the device memory or can it be put on the sc? Is there a difference? |

All others [unless specified] can be installed to the SD card thereby saving precious device memory. |
